- News Rover is an automated agent to download and decode Usenet newsgroup
- messages. News Rover automatically scans selected newsgroups, downloads
- messages that match your criteria, decodes binary file attachments (both
- UUencoded and MIME base64), eliminates duplicates and spam, and reconstructs
- file attachments that are split across multiple messages. News Rover does all
- of this automatically, so you can leave it running while you are sleeping or
- at work. When you are ready to read the messages and view attached files,
- they are ready for instant access on your computer.
-
- News Rover has a "picture gallery" feature that displays thumbnail size images
- of pictures that it has extracted from messages. You can click on a picture
- to view the full-size image; you can also save pictures, repost them, or
- forward them via e-mail to others.
-
- In addition to scanning Usenet newsgroups, News Rover also allows you to post
- messages (optionally with file attachments). You can also use News Rover to
- send private e-mail messages. This makes it easy to reply to messages either
- by posting a public response to newsgroups or by sending a private e-mail
- message to the originator.
-
- You can specify elaborate Include and Exclude expressions to select messages.
- These expressions can include words, phrases and the AND, OR, NEAR and NOT
- operators. You can also use parentheses.
