  7. Recommended installation:
  8.  
  9. 1. Use the default path or enter the drive letter and the directory to which
  10.    you would like Sid Meier's Civilization II to be installed.
  11.  
  12. 2. Choose the Custom Option from the installation menu and select the game
  13.    features that you would like installed to your hard drive. (You MUST
  14.    select "Required Game Files" in order to be able to play).
  15.  
  16. 3. After the game is installed Microsoft's WinG and Indeo Video Interactive
  17.    will be installed to your computer. These are necessary in order for the
  18.    game to function properly.
  19.  
  20. Notes:
  21.    - If you wish to hear sound effects during the game, Recommended Game Files
  22.      must be selected in the custom install menu options. ("Play from CD" is
  23.      not supported for this option).
  24.    - In order to have the Civilopedia active in the game, Civilopedia must be
  25.      selected in the custom install menu options. ("Play from CD" is not
  26.      supported for this option).
  27.    - Most of the multimedia files for Civilization II are located on the CD ROM in
  28.      the Video subdirectory under civ2 ( d:\civ2\video ) and the Kings subdirectory
  29.      under civ2 ( d:\civ2\kings ). If you wish to copy these files to your harddrive, 
  30.      create two subdirectories under civ2 ( c:\mps\civ2\video ) and  ( c:\mps\civ2\kings ).
  31.      Copy all the files in the Video subdirectory of the Civilization II CD to the 
  32.      Video subdirectory that you just created and all the files in the Kings subdirectory
  33.       of the Civilization II CD to the Kings subdirectory that you just created.

  35. {Troubleshooting}

  37. 1. 'General Protection Fault' - Your video driver may be old. Get a new video
  38.     driver from your video card maker or try one of the standard windows video
  39.     drivers.
