-
- OPERATION ORDER NO 90-223
-
- TIME ZONE USED THROUGHOUT THE ORDER: SIERRA
-
- TASK ORGANIZATION: ANNEX A (OB Friendly OB Chart)
-
- 1. SITUATION.
-
- A. ENEMY. Annex B. (Enemy OB Chart) Enemy forces are
- estimated to be at full strength. Indications are, with
- receipt of US Forces from Germany and the United States,
- they will begin preparations for an attack. A sound
- defeat in the initial stages will set the stage for the
- enemy coalition to be split be political action, thereby
- ensuring a favorable result to Iraq.
-
- B. Friendly:
-
- 1. I Corps Occupies Iraq along the line Mosul -
- Baghdad.
-
- 2. V Corps garrisons Iraq.
-
- 3. Defends along Turkish and Syrian Borders.
-
- 4. Strategic Rocket forces will conduct attacks against
- targets in Saudi Arabia and Israel in order to show
- these corrupt Zionist governments are incapable of
- protecting themselves from our armed forces, and to
- split the enemy coalition, led by the morally
- bankrupt Saudi's and imperialist US forces, by
- inciting Israel to attack us.
-
- 5. The Air Force will be held in reserve to provide air
- defense of the homeland and to cover our
- counterattack. It will not be committed to battle
- without my personal authority.
-
- 2. MISSION: Iraqi Ground forces defend in sector NLT 15 January
- 1992 to defeat any aggressor attack from Saudi Arabia.
-
-
-
- 3. EXECUTION:
-
- A. CONCEPT OF THE OPERATION: Iraqi ground forces will
- defend forward with three corps abreast: III Corps in
- the east, IV Corps in the center, and VII Corps in the
- west. Each Corps is to maintain an armored brigade or
- division in tactical reserve to defeat any attempted
- penetration of the defensive belt by enemy forces. II
- Corps will defend from Kuwait City north to Basra
- against any attempted invasion by US Marine Forces. VI
- Corps and IX Corps will defend along the Euphrates river
- complex, to ensure no enemy forces penetrate the sacred
- heartland of our homeland. The RGFC will be in
- operational reserve in SE Iraq/NE Kuwait and prepare for
- several counterattacks: 1, along Axis Jihad to drive
- toward the tri border area, and then either west toward
- the neutral zone or east toward Khafji. Second priority
- for planning is an attack WNW from present positions
- into the southern desert to defeat any attack from the
- open desert.
-
- B. II Corps. Defend in zone in northern Kuwait against any
- amphibious assault by US Marines.
-
- C. III Corps. Defend in zone against attack from northern
- Saudi Arabia and from the sea by US Marines.
-
- D. IV Corps. Defend in zone against any attack from
- Northern Saudi Arabia from the tri border intersection
- to the heel of the 17th Province.
-
- E. VI Corps. Defend SE Iraq North of the Euphrates river.
-
- F. VII Corps. Defend from the tri border region into the
- southern deserts as far west as forces allow. Guard the
- army right flank.
-
- G. IX Corps. Defend along the eastern approached to the
- capital.
-
- H. RGFC. Strategic Reserve. Occupy assembly areas, well
- fortified against air bombardment VIC SAFWAN. Plan to
- carry out counterattacks listed above.
-
- 4. Service Support. Annex N.
-
