- Additional Keys

- Select Nearest Enemy Air Target - 'Y'
- Select Nearest Enemy Ground Target - 'U'
- These are in addition to the 'T' key which toggles through targets
- in F3, F4, F5, F9 and F10 views.

- Backspace key no longer selects target.

- Use of the Backspace key to select targets has been replaced by the
- additional keys above.

- Rank Structure
- --------------
- Within the Mission Roster, there is a rank structure for campaign play.
- Theranks, in order of seniority, are:
- Colonel
- Lieutenant Colonel
- Major
- Captain
- 1st Lieutenant
- 2nd Lieutenant

- On entering your name in the roster, you will be given the rank of 2nd
- Lieutenant.
- In order to get promoted you will need to achieve medals in a number of
- scenarios. The higher you are promoted, the greater the number of 'high
- end' medals, such as the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Medal of
- Honour, are needed for further promotion.

- Roland SCC1/General MIDI
- ------------------------
- There is an SCC1 driver for music included within the setup for users
- with this card.

- Control Sensitivity
- -------------------
- Joystick control sensitivity can be set in the Configuration Menu to
- one of three levels: NORMAL, MEDIUM or FINE. This option can also be
- changed from within the 3d world by using Alt-S.

- Auto Guns
- ---------
- This has now been relabelled Auto Intercept Mode, as this describes its
- function more clearly.

- On Screen Messages
- ------------------
- When one of the following is selected, a brief message will appear at
- the top of your screen confirming what you have selected:

- Accelerated Time
- Intercept mode
- Map Detail level
- Horizon on/ off
- Auto Intercept Mode
- Chaff and Flares available (see below)

- Sound settings (Alt V)
- ----------------------
- In game, you can configure the sound to one of three options
- using 'ALT V':

- No sound
- Engine noise off
- All sound

- Configuration Menu
- ------------------
- The following options referred to in the manual have been removed from
- the Configuration Menu:

- Opponent Kill
- Player Kill
- Missile Effectiveness

- Configuration Screens
- ---------------------
- On entering the game for the first time, you will be presented with the
- Configuration Menu in order to set up your machine to run Dogfight in
- the way you wish. After this, the configuration option is available to
- you as a selectable icon on each of the three main game options, namely,
- Duel Mode, Missions and What If? If selected, the Configuration Menu will
- appear and then return you to the correct place in the game after
- selecting OK.

- Chaff and Flares Messages
- -------------------------
- When a flare or chaff is ejected from your aircraft, a brief message
- appears at the top of the screen informing you of the number of Chaff/
- Flares left.

- Rearm and Refuel
- ----------------
- When you land at any runway, you will be rearmed and refuelled.
- You will also get chaff and flares replaced. Damage will not be repaired.

- Network Broadcast Message Box
- -----------------------------
- If you are running Dogfight whilst your machine is connected to a network,
- you will still be able to receive network broadcast messages. These can
- appear on screen at any time during the game.

- Weapons Loads for Aircraft
- --------------------------
- All weapons loads for aircraft have a nominal cannon load of 200 bullets.

- Random start positions in Duel Mode and What If?
- ------------------------------------------------
- There is now an option which, when selected on the Start Positions screen,
- randomises the starting positions of the enemy aircraft. The facility to
- set the starting altitude has been removed.

- SAM defence of ships
- --------------------
- In addition to SAM launchers on the ground, there are now SAM launchers
- providing point defence of certain ships in the Falklands.
-
- Carrier Landings
- ----------------
- To land on carriers, either with the Sea Harrier or the F4 Phantom, line
- up your aircraft with the rear of the carrier.

- Modem Play : Initialisation String
- ----------------------------------
- When accessing your modem through the Modem Setup Screen you are provided
- with the option to adjust your modem initialisation string. In most cases
- the default string provided will be suitable, but if necessary click on
- the 'Init String' button and type in the string appropriate to your modem.
-
- Modem Play : Tone Dialling
- --------------------------
- If your telephone supports tone dialling this can be activated by
- preceding the telephone number with the letter T. In the absence of such
- a letter the system will default to pulse dialling.
-
- Modem and Direct Connect : Pause, Ejection and Time Advance
- ------------------------------------------------------------
- It is not possible to use pause, eject or time advance when connected to
- another machine under Direct Connect or Modem Play.

- Modem and Direct Connect : 2400 Baud supported
- ----------------------------------------------
- The specification for the modem link has changed since writting
- the technical supplement and currently only supports 2400 baud.

- Modem and Direct Connect : Line Interference
- --------------------------------------------
- On occasion there will be sufficient noise on the link to make a sound connection
- impossible. In these circumstances the program will simply return the user
- to the modem set up screen to enable a second attempt to connect.

- Chat Mode
- ---------
- Following connection via Direct Connect or Modem Connect we have now
- provided the ability for the two players to communicate prior to
- commencing battle. The Chat mode screen consists of the following:
-
- Remote Panel: Displays text information from the other player
- Local Panel: Text typed here will immediately appear on the Remote
- panel of the other player.
- Hang-Up: Terminates the communications session, hangs up the modem
- if appropriate and returns the player to the main option
- screen.
- Start Game: Takes the player to the Aircraft select screen for the
- forthcoming dogfight.

- You will find that occasionally control characters from the 3D code will
- be echoed to the remote panel. This is normal and should be ignored
-
- Messages
- --------
- In addition to the Chat Mode Screen before battle, players using Direct
- Connect or Modem Play can send text messages to each other while flying.
- To do this type Alt-M. This will bring up a message box, type in your
- text, followed by return, and your message will be displayed on the
- screen of the other player. Displayed messages will automatically clear
- after a suitable time interval.

- While typing a message the keyboard is disabled for the purposes of
- flying the aircraft but control can be maintained using the joystick.
-
- Message mode is not available on the F9 map screen.
