  2. In the beginning,
  3. the Earth was without form,
  4. and void.
  5. _
  6. But the Sun shone upon the sleeping Earth
  7. and deep inside the brittle crust
  8. massive forces waited to be unleashed.
  9. _
  10. The seas parted  
  11. and great continents were formed.
  12. The continents shifted, mountains arose.
  13. Earthquakes spawned massive tidal waves.
  14. Volcanoes erupted
  15. and spewed forth fiery lava
  16. and charged the atmosphere
  17. with strange gases.
  18. _
  19. Into this swirling maelstrom
  20. of Fire and Air and Water
  21. the first stirrings of Life appeared:
  22. tiny organisms, cells, and amoeba,
  23. clinging to tiny sheltered habitats.
  24. _
  25. But the seeds of Life grew,
  26. and strengthened, and spread,
  27. and diversified,
  28. and prospered,
  29. and soon every continent and climate
  30. teemed with Life.
  31. _
  32. And with Life came instinct,
  33. and specialization, natural selection,
  34. Reptiles, Dinosaurs, and Mammals
  35. and finally there evolved a species
  36. known as Man
  37. and there appeared
  38. the first faint glimmers of
  39. Intelligence.
  40. _
  41. The fruits of intelligence were many:
  42. fire, tools, and weapons,
  43. the hunt, farming, and the sharing of food,
  44. the family, the village, and the tribe.
  45. Now it required but one more ingredient:
  46. a great Leader
  47. to unite the quarreling tribes
  48. to harness the power of the land
  49. to build a legacy
  50. that would stand the test of time:
  51. _
