  1. Lucas's Puzzle

  3. This puzzle was invented in the late 
  4. nineteenth century by Edouard Lucas,
  5. a French mathematician. The object is
  6. very simple. You are given a pattern,
  7. two sets of colored markers, with an
  8. empty space in the middle.  You have
  9. to reverse the pattern. Just to keep it
  10. interesting, there are a few rules on how
  11. you can go about this.  The markers 
  12. can only be moved in one direction,
  13. red markers toward the right, and blue
  14. marker toward the left.  Second, a marker
  15. can only be moved to the empty space by
  16. either sliding it over to the adjacent square,
  17. or by jumping over one other marker.
