  13. REGISTERING Crypto!
  14. -------------------
  15. Crypto! is copyrighted software.  It is not in the public domain, nor is it
  16. distributed for free.  The author retains all rights to this software.
  17.  
  18. Crypto! is distributed as Shareware so you can try it out without risk to
  19. see if you like it.  Play it for a month.  If you don't like it, simply
  20. delete it and owe nothing.  If you continue to use Crypto! after the trial
  21. period, you must register your copy.  To do this, fill out the form in the
  22. file REGISTER.TXT, and send it with your check or money order to:

  28. If you prefer, you may also register via CompuServe.  This takes an extra
  29. day or two, but it is particularly convenient for users outside of the US
  30. because CompuServe takes care of all the currency conversions.  Type
  31. GO SWREG and enter registration id #2317.

  33. The registered version of Crypto! includes over 10,000 quotes and phrases,
  34. for years of cryptographic fun!  It also includes the utility program
  35. cryptocm.exe which allows you to compress quote files that you have created.

  37. Registered users of Crypto! are entitled to one year of free technical
  38. support, and will automatically receive and be registered for the next major
  39. revision of the program free of charge.

  41. Anyone is welcome to call, write or e-mail for information on the latest
  42. revision, to report bugs, and to make suggestions or other comments about
  43. Crypto!.  I am particularly interested in your ideas for making Crypto!
  44. more fun.

  46. The shareware version of Crypto! may be freely copied and distributed
  47. provided that it is distributed intact and without any modification.

  57. INSTALLING Crypto!
  58. ------------------
  59. Installation is easy.  First, you must unpack the archive file containing
  60. the distribution (if you're reading this, you have done that already).  You
  61. should have the following files:

  63.     crypto.exe        executable Windows program
  64.     crypto.cqt        quote/phrase file
  65.     crypto.cqi        quote/phrase index file
  66.     crypto.txt        the file you are reading now
  67.     register.txt        registration form
  68.     bwcc.dll        Borland C++ support routines
  69.     
  70. Copy the files "crypto.exe", "crypto.cqt" and  "crypto.cqi" to any directory
  71. you wish; they must reside in the same directory.  Bwcc.dll may be put in this
  72. same directory or the windows\system directory.  To start Crypto!, open the
  73. File Manager, display the directory containing "crypto.exe".  Now double-click
  74. your mouse on "crypto.exe", or use File|Run and enter the command "crypto".

  76. Should you decide to register Crypto!, you may wish to add it to one of the
  77. groups in the Program Manager.  Here is how that is done:
  78.  
  79.     1) Open the group to which you have chosen to add Crypto!.
  80.     2) Select File|New from the Program Manager.
  81.     3) Verify that the box which appears says "New Program Item", and
  82.        click OK.
  83.     4) Enter the following values:
  84.         Description:    Crypto!
  85.         Command Line:    crypto.exe
  86.         Working Directory: (the directory where you put crypto.exe
  87.                 and crypto.qot)
  88.     5) Click the OK button.

  90. Now Crypto! can be started merely by double-clicking its icon in the group
  91. to which you added it.
