  36. The program TERRACE.EXE comprising the Card Game 'Terrace' and this
  37. documentation file is distributed as 'Shareware'. It is a fully
  38. functioning program. You may evaluate the program for a period of 30 days,
  39. after which continued use of the program requires registration with the
  40. author.

  42. I don't ask much for the registration fee, and will be pleased to send you
  43. an updated version of the program when you register provided you supply a
  44. disk and cover my costs.

  49. 2. Introduction
  50.  
  51. The Terrace Card Game is a two pack patience game described by David
  52. Pelter in his book 'The Penguin Book of Patience'. It has numerous names
  53. used around the world and may more prosaically be called 'Queen of Italy'
  54. or 'Signora'. The game 'Terrace' is one of a family of related games with
  55. slightly varying rules and layouts. The principle variants described in
  56. the book have all been implemented in this program.

  58. The program is written using Turbo Pascal for Windows from Borland (an
  59. excellent language product which I can thoroughly recommend).

  62. 3. Installation
  63.  
  64. 3.1 Requirements
  65.  
  66. An IBM PC AT or compatible. Microsoft Windows V3+. A mouse.
  67.  
  68. The program has been tested running under Microsoft Windows V3.0 and V3.1
  69. using hardware varying from an 8Mhz Tandon AT to an IBM 386DX Portable on
  70. a range of display adaptors.

  73. 3.2 Installation
  74.  
  75. You should receive this software as a single self extracting archive file
  76. using the LZH format from Yoshi. (TERR_21.EXE)
  77.  
  78. To install the software
  79.  
  80. a) Copy the file TERR_21.EXE to the Drive and Directory you wish to use
  81.    for the installation.  
  82. b) Execute the file TERR_21.EXE.  
  83. c) You will be prompted with a Copyright screen and the option to proceed
  84.    to install the program files.  
  85. d) The program will then de-archive the files
  86.  
  87.    TERRACE.EXE  - the Windows Executable file.
  88.    TERRACE.HLP  - the Windows Style Help file
  89.    TERRACE.TXT  - this short documentation file.
  90.    DECK_???.BMP - a set of Bitmap files containing the Deck designs
  91.  
  92. You may include the TERRACE.EXE file in Windows Program Manager or double
  93. click on its filename in File Manager to launch the program.
  94.  
  95. Once you have run the program and selected from the user definable options
  96. a further file
  97.  
  98. TERRACE.INI
  99.  
  100. will be found in the Directory containing your Windows Files. Should you
  101. wish to remove 'Terrace' from your system at a future date then this file
  102. may be deleted.

  104. Unless registered with the author the program will remind you periodically
  105. that the 'Good Guys' register their Shareware Programs.

  129. JACKPOT V1.1  Four Reel Fruit Machine Program

  131. PMPlus  V1.4  Enhances the Program Manager by allowing you to
  132.               nest one Program Group inside another. Adds depth 
  133.               to your workspace.

  135. TMPlus V1.2   Windows Task Manager replacement. Includes all the
  136.               functionality of the original and adds a user definable 
  137.               menu system to launch your programs as well as a Browse 
  138.               and Run facility to access your less used programs.

  140. For Programmers - if you are a programmer and use Turbo Pascal for Windows
  141. then I am also willing to sell a couple of Turbo Pascal Units (TPU files)
  142. which implement all the hard work in the card games 13 Out, Carlton and
  143. Terrace.  All you need to add is the framework of the game plus the logic
  144. to implement its rules.  Give me a ring for more details.
