  22. The program 6PACK.EXE comprising the Card Games called 'Six Pack' and
  23. this documentation file is distributed as 'Shareware'. It is a fully
  24. functioning program. You may evaluate the program for a period of 30
  25. days, after which continued use of the program requires registration
  26. with the author.

  28. I don't ask much for the registration fee, and will be pleased to send
  29. you an updated version of the program when you register provided you
  30. supply a disk and cover my costs.

  33. 3. Introduction
  34. ---------------
  35.  
  36. The Six Pack Card Game is a set of six single pack patience games based
  37. on games described by David Parlett in his book 'The Penguin Book of
  38. Patience'.
  39.  
  40. The program is written using Turbo Pascal for Windows from Borland (an
  41. excellent language product which I can thoroughly recommend).

  44. 4. Installation
  45. ---------------

  47. 4.1 Requirements
  48. ----------------

  50. An IBM PC AT or compatible. Microsoft Windows V3+. A mouse.
  51.  
  52. The program has been tested running under Microsoft Windows V3.0 and
  53. V3.1 using hardware varying from an 8Mhz Tandon AT to an IBM 386DX
  54. Portable on a range of display adaptors.
  55.  
  56. nb. The Card Deck selection dialog feature will not work in Windows
  57. V3.0 unless you have the COMMDLG.DLL program.

  59. 4.2 Install
  60. -----------
  61.  
  62. You should receive this software as a single self extracting archive
  63. file using the LZH format from Yoshi. (6PACK_10.EXE)
  64.  
  65. 4.2.A To install the software from DOS
  66. --------------------------------------
  67.  
  68. a) Copy the file 6PACK_10.EXE to the Drive and Directory you wish to
  69.    use for the installation.
  70.  
  71. b) Execute the file 6PACK_10.EXE.  
  72.  
  73. c) You will be prompted with a Copyright screen and the option to
  74.    proceed to install the program files.
  75.  
  76. d) The program will then de-archive the files
  77.  
  78.    6PACK  .EXE - the Windows Executable file.
  79.    6PACK  .HLP - the Windows Help file
  80.    6PACK  .TXT - this documentation file.
  81.    DECKnnn.BMP - a set of 12 Cards Deck Designs

  83. You may include the 6PACK.EXE file in Windows Program Manager or double
  84. click on its filename in File Manager to launch the program.
  85.  
  86. Once you have run the program and selected from the user definable
  87. options a further file
  88.  
  89.    6PACK.INI
  90.  
  91. will be found in the Directory containing your Windows Files.  Should
  92. you wish to remove 'Six Pack' from your system at a future date then
  93. this file may be deleted.

  95. Unless registered with the author the program will remind you
  96. periodically that the 'Good Guys' register their Shareware Programs.

  98. 4.2.B To Install from Windows
  99. -----------------------------

  101. If you have receieved this software direct from me then it came with
  102. its own Windows Installation procedure (INSTALL.EXE) on the disk.
  103.  
  104. a) Place the distribution disk in drive a: or b:
  105.  
  106. b) From Program Manager select File, Run and key in a:\install.exe 
  107.    or b:\install.exe.
  108.  
  109. c) Follow the instructions that follow to install Six Pack or any
  110.    of the other programs spplied on the disk.
  111.  
  112. d) The installation program will unpack the files to your disk and
  113.    install the application into Program Manager if you require.
  114.

  116. 5. Registration
  117.  
  118. If you like this program and intend to continue using it then you may
  119. register your ownership with the author and receive your personal
  120. registration number.  This will stop the program nagging you to
  121. register.
  122.  
  123. Registration costs five pounds sterling (or equivalent in readily
  124. convertible currency). If in addition you send me a disk with return
  125. packaging and postage for your location, I will provide the most up to
  126. date version of the program and copies of other Shareware programs I
  127. have written for you to try.  I can also supply a disk, if you prefer
  128. not to send your own, for a further one pound and fifty pence (three
  129. pounds for non UK locations).

  174. PMPlus V1.4  - Enhances the Program Manager by allowing you to
  175.   nest one Program Group inside another. Adds depth to your 
  176.   workspace.

  178. TMPlus V1.2  - Windows Task Manager replacement. Includes all the
  179.   functionality of the original and adds a user definable menu
  180.   system to launch your programs as well as a Browse and Run 
  181.   facility to access your less used programs.

  183. xFA V1.0  - An enhancement to the Windows File Association functions
  184.   that permits a single file type (denoted by the file extension) to 
  185.   be associated with multiple application programs. (rather than just
  186.   one application which Windows supports alone).

  188. For Programmers - if you are a programmer and use Turbo Pascal for Windows
  189. then I am also willing to license a couple of Turbo Pascal Units (TPU files)
  190. which implement all the hard work in the card games. All you need to add
  191. is the framework of the game plus the logic to implement its rules.  Give
