- 5.2 Starting and Running the Program
-
- Program uses a window interface. Choose a window from the
- 'Information' menu (hot key F10). If a window border is inactive
- (gray) this window is unavailable (for example, there is no PCI
- bus on the computer). If there are scrolling bars in a window, you
- can scroll it using cursor keys or a mouse.
-
- 5.3 Using Help System
-
- Program provides you with a hypertext context-sensitive help
- facility. You can choose an item from the Help:Contents menu or
- use the hot key F1. English is the help system default language.
- If you wish to change it, choose an item Help:Language. In the
- appear red window choose the language you need and click the OK
- button. You can navigate in the help system using cursor keys or a
- mouse on the scrolling bar. You can go to hypertext links by press
- TAB (forward) or Shift-TAB (back) and Enter (go to the link)
- buttons. To quit the help system, press the ESC button.

- 5.4 Creating a File Report
-
- To create a file report, choose the Full Report item (hot key F2)
- in the Report menu. You can type the report name and comments in
- the appeared window. By default program will create file astra.rpt
- with the content of the ASTRA's all information windows will be
- created in its catalogue. If your computer has a network name,
- file report will be named after it (maximum 8 symbols). Creation
- of summary (Report:Summary Report) and INI (Report:INI Format
- Report, see 4.5) reports is also available.

- 5.5 Running in Batch Mode

- Usage:
- ASTRA /R[J,S] [[path\]filename[.ext]] [/Q] [/?]

- /R[S,J] [[path\]filename[.ext]] - creating report in the 'path'
- directory with the 'filename' name and '.ext' extension. Default
- 'path' directory is the program's directory even if it is not the
- current directory. The default name of the created file is 'astra'
- or your network computer name, the default extension is '.rpt'
- [S] - creating summary report
- [J] - creating a INI format report, the default extension is
- '.rjs'.
- /Q - quiet mode. Use it together with the key /R[S,J]

- 5.6 Using ASTRA with hardware inventory management software
-
- To create a file report in INI format, choose the INI Format
- Report item in the Report menu or use /RJ command line key. This
- file can be imported to Hardware Inspector.

- Hardware Inspectror
- Hardware Inspector is the application for automated hardware asset
- tracking and inventory management of hardware. The Hardware
- Inspector is unique because it keeps separate records of the
- devices, and not just configuration settings of each computer.
- Each device is assigned a passport, and the program keeps the
- history of its transitions between workplaces and registers their

- 5.7 Running in Windows
-
- Program runs in a DOS-window under Windows 9x/ME. Due to the use
- of the external Win32 module, program running in a DOS-window is
- absolutely identical to the program operation in pure DOS. Before
- starting the program in multitask OS, please close all
- applications and make sure that no programs are using disk drives
- and sound card otherwise identification of these devices can be
- incorrect. Attention: after starting the program all data in the
- Windows clipboard will be lost. The program can't be run in a
- DOS-window under Windows 3.x, Windows NT/2000/XP and OS/2. Please
- use ASTRA32 for Windows NT4/2000/XP/Server 2003/95/98/ME. Please

- Processor: Vendor, name and number of the processor and also
- expected (not-overclocked) processor clock.
-
- Coprocessor: Vendor and name of the numeric coprocessor. In 486DX
- and higher coprocessor and processor are using the same crystal
- (except NexGen Nx586/686); coprocessor is identified as Internal.
-
- CPU Clock: Processor frequency. For Pentium processors frequency
- is defined with the RDTSC command reading TSC (Time Stamp
- Counter). Frequency accuracy reaches 0.1 MHz with any CPU usage.
- For 486 and lower processors frequency is defined by its speed.
- For Intel Pentium Pro and higher, AMD K6-2 and higher, VIA Cyrix
- III and higher, IDT WinChip2 and higher processors there can be
- identified clock multiplier, FSB clock and bus type (DDR, QDR)

- instruction). Is identified for Intel processors of the sixth
- generation and higher, AMD K5 PR120 and higher, VIA Cyrix III and

- System Name: Can be identified on motherboards with DMI/SMBIOS
- support.

- Motherboard OEM: Motherboard vendor. In some cases the name
- written on the box doesn't coincide with this line. Classic
- example is Acorp. The company doesn't possess its own production
- facilities and places orders at Hope Vision, SuperPower, San Li or
- Agama Technology Co. Ltd plants. Can be identified on motherboards
- with AWARD and AMI BIOS.

- Board Model: Can be identified on motherboards with DMI/SMBIOS
- support.

- BIOS Version: BIOS vendor and version.

- Chipset Vendor: Mainboard chipset vendor. Chipset is a group of
- microchip designed to work and sold as a unit in performing one or
- more related functions. Is identified only in systems with the PCI
- bus.

- Chipset: Name of chipset. Is identified only in systems with the
- PCI bus or AWARD BIOS.

- Southbridge Vendor: Chipset southbridge vendor.

- Base Memory: Base memory size. Base memory is the first 640 Kb of
- memory running in real mode. There can be identified free base

- the memory above the first megabyte.

- Memory Module: Information on each memory module (size, speed,

- Floppy Drive: Capacity and physical size of the floppy disk (5.25

- 1. While detecting your sound card using EMM386 memory manager the
