  2. Messer v0.992 is a general purpose sound recorder designed specially
  3. for radio broadcasts recordings, although it can be used for recording
  4. form any source that sound card provides. Built in scheduler allows to
  5. make recording at specified time and, for example, record multiple
  6. radio shows even when you're not at home or sleeping. Messer is able 
  7. to automatically engage external application which can convert or
  8. compress just recorded file and even shut down your PC after recording. 
  9. Messer supports freeware mp3 encoding libraries - with Messer one can
  10. record sound _directly_ into mp3 format - no huge temporary files 
  11. are required, all encoding is done on-the-fly.

  13. Special requirements: For on-the-fly mp3 encoding lame_enc.dll or
  14. bladeenc.dll are required (links provided on Messer's website). Also
  15. quite fast CPU is needed for this job (PII 350 MHz is enough, but 
  16. slightly slower units may also work fine).

  31. INSTALLATION

  33. Uninstall previous version of Messer using Windows' "Add/remove 
  34. programs" tool.

  36. Run messer-v0992-setup.exe.

  38. Optionally[*] download lame_enc.dll and bladeenc.dll (see links at 
  39. http://www.dago.pmp.com.pl/messer/) and put them into windows/system 
  40. directory or into directory in which messer.exe is installed.

  42. [*] you'll need at least one to use built in mp3 compresion support
  43. and on-the-fly encoding (for on-the-fly encoding lame_enc.dll is 
  44. recommended, since it is much faster).
