- Installation
-
- To install Picture Window 2.5, insert the Picture Window 2.5 CD-ROM into your
- CD-ROM drive and the installer should start up automatically. If not, simply
- run INSTALL.EXE from the CD-ROM and follow the onscreen instructions.
-
- Installation on computers without a CD-ROM drive
-
- You can install Picture Window on a computer without a CD-ROM drive as long as
- you have access to one that does. The folder on the CD called Floppy Disk Images
- contains files for installation from diskette. Three blank, formatted diskettes
- are required; simply copy the information from each of the disk image folders to
- a different diskette and install by running SETUP.EXE from disk 1. Due to size
- limitations, the electronic manuals are omitted from a floppy disk installation.
-
- Uninstallation
-
- To uninstall Picture Window, double click the Add/Remove Programs icon in the
- Windows 95 Control Panel and select Picture Window 2.5. Then click the
- Add/Remove button to remove Picture Window from your computer.
-
- Electronic Manuals
-
- The Picture Window manual, white papers, and What's New document are supplied
- in electronic form as Adobe Acrobat files. To view or print copies of these
- electronic documents requires a copy of the Acrobat Reader program. If you
- don't already have Acrobat installed on your computer, you can install the
- Acrobat Reader Installer from the Picture Window CD-ROM and then run it. The
- latest version of Acrobat is always available for free download from Adobe's
- web site (http://www.adobe.com). Once Acrobat has been installed, you can
- view a document by simply double clicking its icon.
-
- During installation, you have the option of installing the manual on your hard
- disk or leaving it on the CD-ROM to save space. To access the electronic manual
- from Picture Window, use the command: Help/Open Electronic Manual. If you did
- not install the manual on your hard disk, Picture Window will prompt you to
- load the CD-ROM.
-
- Getting Started
-
- The first time you run Picture Window, it will issue a warning that no
- monitor calibration has been performed. To eliminate this message from future
- sessions without performing a monitor calibration, execute the File Calibrate
- command and click OK immediately; this will save a flat monitor calibration
- curve. Later, you can use the monitor calibration overlay supplied with your
- copy of Picture Window with the File Calibrate command to calibrate your
- monitor.
-
- You may also want to run through the File Preferences dialog and save your
- preferences for future sessions.
