  14. INTRODUCTION
  15. Eight separate tools comprise HTML PowerTools for Windows. These
  16. are powerful HTML development tools for Windows, for use
  17. alongside your HTML or text editor. They include customizable
  18. offline HTML validation and link checking, HTML-specific spell-
  19. checking, HTML-aware search and replace, site-wide META tag
  20. management, automatic HTML file "last modified date" stamping,
  21. IMG tag automatic width, height, and ALT insertion, HTML to
  22. text batch conversion, and more.

  24. While each tool is separate in purpose, many work together.
  25. They are intended to be used as a 'suite' of utilities to
  26. assist you - the HTML developer. Their primary purpose is
  27. to automate difficult or time-consuming tasks that you are
  28. now doing manually.

  34. INSTALLATION
  35. After unzipping the ZIP file you downloaded, run SETUP.EXE
  36. and follow the on-screen prompts.
  37.  
  38. It is important to close all running applications before
  39. running SETUP.EXE. Conflicts with open files can cause the
  40. installation to fail.
  41.  
  42. It is also important to note that some virus checkers
  43. prevent proper installation and startup of the tools. If
  44. you experience any problems during install or program
  45. startup, be sure to unload your virus checker and try
  46. again.
  47.  
  48. A software license agreement will be displayed on-screen
  49. during setup. Your acceptance of the agreement is required
  50. to install the software. A copy is also included in the
  51. ZIP file you downloaded as license.txt.

  54. THE LAUNCH PAD
  55. In addition to the actual HTML utilities, Setup installs the
  56. HTML PowerTools Launch Pad. This handy toolbar provides quick
  57. access to each of the tools in the suite from one location.
  58. If you right-click any of the tool icons, you will notice the
  59. Stay on Top option - this will cause the Launch Pad to remain
  60. above all your other windows to make access to the tools even
  61. more convenient.

  64. PROGRAM CHANGES IN THIS RELEASE
  65. * HTML PowerAnalyzer now supports HTML tables and table cells.
  66.   HTML Rulebase Editor supports editing of tag attributes to
  67.   customize how the Analyzer deals with tables and cells.
  68.  
  69. * Updated HTML Rulebases are included, now supporting MSIE 4,
  70.   Netscape 4, and HTML 4. The new rulebase files load more
  71.   quickly into the tools that use them.

  73. * HTML PowerSpell is now included as part of the suite.

  75. * Various minor bugs have been repaired., and no known bugs
