- Installing and Using The Spreadsheet Macro
-
- VRCharts comes with a macro that can be integrated with Excel or Lotus 123.
- These macros provide an easy interface to start VRCharts. You simply
- select the data cells that you want to chart and then invoke the macro.
- The macro will make a copy of the selected cells and invoke VRCharts in
- New Chart mode. The temporary data file will be pre-prompted in the input
- field for the data file name when VRCharts starts up.
-
- Excel Macro Installation and Use
- To include the VRCharts macro with a one of your existing Excel
- spreadsheets do the following:
-
- 1. Start Excel and open a Workbook with your data.
- 2. Under File Menu select Open and select C:\Program
- File\VRCharts\ExcelVRCharts.xls
- This loads an Excel command that appears under the Tools menu called Launch
- VRCharts.
- 3. Select the sheet in your Workbook that contains the data you want to
- chart.
- 4. Select data cells you want to chart.
- 5. Select Tools from the menu, select Launch VRCharts.
-
- VRCharts will now start in "New Chart - Open Data File" mode and the file
- name field will be pre-prompted with the name of the file just created.
- The file will be created in the folder the Excel Workbook was loaded from
- and will have the same name as the Excel sheet. If the file already exists
- you will be prompted to overwrite the file. The file will have the .txt
- extension indicting a tab delimited file.
-
- With VRCharts running you can return to the Excel spreadsheet, select a
- different set of data and select Launch VRCharts again. VRCharts will
- start execution at the "New Chart - Open Data File" prompt for the input
- data file name. If you were in the middle of creating a chart in the
- Wizard that work will be lost as the Wizard will begin at the data file
- prompt screen. If you are displaying a completed chart, that chart will
- remain.
