  65.     The <span class="guimenuitem">Alpha to Selection</span> command creates a
  66.     selection in the current layer from the alpha channel, which encodes
  67.     transparency. Opaque areas are fully selected, transparent areas are
  68.     unselected, and translucent areas are partially selected. This selection
  69.     <span class="emphasis"><em>replaces</em></span> the existing selection. The alpha channel
  70.     itself is not changed.

  74.     except that instead of completely replacing the existing selection with
