  4. lm-sensors requires kernel support to access sensor devices. There are
  5. two parts to these modules: generic drivers to access devices on the i2c
  6. bus, and drivers to support specific sensor devices.

  9. 2.4 kernels

  12. 2.4 kernels are not supported any more. If you still want to use a 2.4 
  13. kernel, you have to patch your kernel. Have a look at the documentation
  14. on http://www.lm-sensors.org/

  17. 2.6 kernels

  20. All the necessary modules are included in the 2.6 kernel tree. Just have a
  21. look at "I2C Hardware Sensors Chip support" in your kernel configuration.

  23. Once you have your kernel properly configured, you need to probe for the 
  24. sensors available on your system. You can use the sensors-detect program to 
  25. do this.

  27. Please note that the /sys interface changed in kernel version 2.6.5 and 
  28. libsensors version 2.8.6. This version of libsensors3 doesn't support 
  29. kernels older than version 2.6.5 anymore.
