Tip_1=You can quickly add keywords to your files in any mode, simply right-click the selected file(s) and click 'Add keyword..'
Tip_2=Can't get the zoom settings you need using '+' and '-'? Select View | Zoom | Custom.. to enter an exact zoom percentage.
Tip_3=Can't quite see all the filename information in the status bar? Hover your mouse over it for a full display.
Tip_4=Can't see enough folders when using the Browse for Folder dialog box? You can make it higher by dragging the edges and Smart Pix will remember your preferred size!
Tip_5=Click the 'Window' Menu item for a list of all your current image windows. Select one to display it.
Tip_6=Does the beeping annoy you? You can disable it under Options.
Tip_7=Why not add the keyword 'Best' to all your favourite files. If you select this keyword when performing a search your favourite files should rank higher than others.
Tip_8=Browsing your image collection when the boss walks in? Press the F12 key to quickly minimise Smart Pix.
Tip_9=You can quickly add or remove keywords by double-clicking on them.
Tip_10=All panels can be adjusted by hovering the mouse over the gap between them and dragging. Choose the Smart Pix layout that is best for you. Smart Pix will remember all your favourite settings, but you can reset them with the 'Esc' key.
Tip_11=Always start your browsing at a particular folder? Why not set it as your 'Folders mode start up directory' under options?
Tip_12=We cannot say with 100% confidence that the actions of man are responsible for climate change, just as we cannot say with 100% confidence that jumping off a bridge will kill you. But in both cases, isn't it better to err on the side of caution?
Tip_13=When adding keywords don't worry if some of the selected files already have that keyword. Smart Pix knows not to try and add the same keyword to a file twice.
Tip_14=In Folders mode, clicking on the folder display with the right mouse button will give you a selection of folder management functions.
Tip_15=When adding new source folders to your database try to add as many default keywords as is relevant for that folder. These will automatically be added to all files from the folder, which will save you a lot of work later on.
Tip_16=Is it a bug or a feature? If Smart Pix is acting a little weirdly, e-mail us at support@xequte.com so we can fix it before the next release. Explain as much as you can about when it happens and what causes it.
Tip_17=Is your image collection getting too large? Try batch converting your images to JPEG format at about 75% compression. They will probably be much smaller than the originals with little noticeable difference in image quality.
Tip_18=When removing a keyword don't worry if not all of the files you have selected have that keyword. Smart Pix will just ignore the files without it, and remove it from those that have it.
Tip_19=Forgot to make Smart Pix your default viewer during your installation. You can change the file associations for all your image formats under File | Supported Formats, Associations tab
Tip_20=Found a nice image? Why not set it as your desktop wallpaper? Simply select it and click Image | Set as wallpaper
Tip_21=Getting 'Image not found' errors while browsing your bookmarks? Click the Bookmark Update button to clear out any files that have been moved or deleted.
Tip_22=Have a great idea for a new feature for Smart Pix or a whole new software product, but don't have the time or skills to enliven it? E-mail us at Xequte, we will make it worth your while!
Tip_23=Is your list of favourite folders getting out of date? Click 'Go to.. Update' to clear out all the folders that no longer exist.
Tip_24=To hide your images from less advanced users try converting your images to a false extension. Smart Pix will automatically give all your images a new extension such as '.SPM'. Less advanced users will not know how to view them.
Tip_25=If your computer is a little slow, instead of bookmarking images that you want to return to, open them in a new image window ('N' key) and browse between all your open windows with the 'W' key.
Tip_26=If your images don't quite look right, you can crop them, resize them or rotate or flip them by selecting the appropriate option under Image|Edit..
Tip_27=Finding Smart Pix has got a little slow since you added that last 10,000 images to your database? Tweak the Database Performance settings under Advanced Options (File|Options, 'Other' tab)
Tip_28=Have some favourite images you always return to? Why not bookmark them and then save the bookmark as 'Favourites'.
Tip_29=How often do you really use the menu? Why not hide it (Ctrl+M) to save screen real estate.
Tip_30=If an image is taking too long to load, you cancel it by clicking the stop button!
Tip_31=If Smart Pix is your default viewer for images then you can double-click a file in Explorer to open it in Smart Pix, even if Smart Pix is already running!
Tip_32=If you add all your most commonly used folders to your 'favourites' button you will save 1,658,395 clicks each year in browsing through your folders.
Tip_33=If you find the display of Thumbnails too slow, increase the level of disk caching under Options, Thumbnail tab. It only costs a few extra KB of hard drive space per file.
Tip_34=If you have made changes to files or folders in other programs while you are running Smart Pix you may need to press the F5 key to update the display in Folders Mode.
Tip_35=If you like Smart Pix, tell your friends about it. As the number of registered users increases, the more development time we can justify and the better the product will be.
Tip_36=If you often have lots of image windows open, you can close them all quickly just by clicking 'Close all image windows' or Ctrl+W
Tip_37=If you move or rename a folder in Folders mode, Smart Pix automatically updates your source folders. However, if you have done the rename or move in another application simply click the 'relocate' button in Source Folders and tell Smart Pix Manager where you have moved it.
Tip_38=It's the gifts you give to your loved ones when they don't expect it that show your true feelings!
Tip_39=If you need to use your database on different systems you might want to consider using Relative Paths to avoid re-entering all your source folders. See the Help file for more information.
Tip_40=If you have a number of very different image collections, such as 'Cars' and 'Rugby Heroes' use a separate database for each one. This keeps it more organised and makes finding the images you want so much easier.
Tip_41=Need to move, copy or rename a folder that is used by your database (i.e. also a source folder)? Do it in Smart Pix, Folders mode, your database references will automatically be updated for you.
Tip_42=Negativity is contagious! Minimise your contact with negative people to maximise your well-being. If you can't avoid negative people, keep reminding them of the positive side of everything and then they will start avoiding you!
Tip_43=If you are giving your friend images from your collection, why not copy the associated Smart Pix database for them as well. If he doesn't use the same folders he can 'relocate' them under Options, Source Folders.
Tip_44=No matter where you go, people are basically the same; the same desires and the same fears. Look for those aspects you have in common with the people you meet rather than dwelling on your differences.
Tip_45=If you are only seeking images of a single keyword just double-click it and the search will be performed.
Tip_46=No matter where you travel in the world, try to talk to people who aren't just paid to be nice to you. That fleeting conversation you shared with a kindly old woman in Istanbul, who could hardly speak a word of English, will never leave you.
Tip_47=If you are using 'database image storage' and want to move some of your images out of the database to normal files on the hard drive, highlight the files in database mode and 'Move' them to a non-source folder.
Tip_48=Sick of scrolling your images? Why not enable 'Shrink to Fit' by pressing Ctrl + '-'.
Tip_49=Smart Pix provides extensive support for Right-clicking. Try clicking on things with the right mouse button for a quick summary of relevant options.
Tip_50=Want to add a long list of keywords to your DB, but the 'Add Keyword' function is too tedious? Easy! Write all the keywords in a long list using a text editor such as Notepad then save it. Now you can export this list into Smart Pix using Database|Import and Export..
Tip_51=Not everything that you have been brought up to believe is necessarily true. Analyse your feelings and recognise those that are only based on the ignorance and misunderstanding of earlier generations. After all you wouldn't want to pass on this baggage to your children.
Tip_52=Afraid Smart Pix's secure database image storage method will make your viewing slower? Don't be! Smart Pix can load images from its database just as quickly as directly from the hard drive.
Tip_53=Not sure of the keyboard shortcuts? Hover the mouse over the buttons. The equivalent keyboard shortcut is displayed in square brackets.
Tip_54=After doing a database update, go into Database mode and select 'Show Files without Assigned Keywords' to show all files that don't have any keywords. Then assign them some! Otherwise they'll never come up as a hit when you do a search!
Tip_55=Often edit your images? Specify the location of your editor under File|Supported Formats, Editor tab, then you can launch the current image into it with the 'E' key.
Tip_56=Backed up your database recently? Think of all the time you have invested in setting it up! Why not incorporate it into your regular back-up plan or use the Database|Import and Export|Back Up database to file function.
Tip_57=Learn the keyboard shortcuts! It will make your Smart Pix experience much faster.
Tip_58=Need to add the same description to multiple files? Select the files then right-click them and select file description. Viola, The new description will be added to all the files.
Tip_59=Curious to know more about your Smart Pix database. Select Database | Database Info to see your statistics.
Tip_60=Often move or copy files to the same set of folders? Add them to your favourites list by selecting them in Folders mode and clicking 'Add Dir'. Now you can move or copy a file just by selecting them and double-clicking the folder in Quick Move/Copy toolbar.
Tip_61=For the highest level of security for your images, store them within Smart Pix's encrypted database and specify password access. These can be set under Options, database settings.
Tip_62=Select the 'Simple Window' option in new windows if you want to maximise the image display area.
Tip_63=Often perform the same search? Why not bookmark all the hits and save it as a bookmark file. It is quicker to select a bookmark file than re-perform your searches.
Tip_64=Want to open the displayed image in another application, but not your default editor? Hold Ctrl as you click 'Edit'. Now you can browse for a program to use.
Tip_65=Want to put your images up on the web? Use the HTML Creation Wizard to automatically create thumbnails and HTML index pages.
Tip_66=Planning on shipping your Smart Pix database to friends or colleagues on a CD-ROM? Ensure you read the help file information for technical advice on CD-ROM deployment!
Tip_67=Plant a tree! When all the rain forest has been chopped down you can cling to yours for oxygen.
Tip_68=Using Smart Pix to display images that you are downloading from the Internet? Use the watch folder function! It will automatically displays files as they are added to a specified folder.
Tip_69=Visited the Xequte web site recently? There may be new software releases or updates. Click Help | Go to the Xequte Site.
Tip_70=Want full-screen mode to display faster? Select the option 'Do not maximise screen in Full-screen mode' and always run Smart Pix maximised!
Tip_71=Want to batch assign keywords or descriptions to your files? Export your database and open the created file in a spreadsheet such as Excel, make the changes you want and save the file. Now import the file back into your Smart Pix database. Viola!
Tip_72=Smart Pix supports full drag and drop integration with Windows! You can move, copy and create links to files and databases simply by dragging them to a new location.
Tip_73=Smart Pix supports multiple selection! Why perform an action twice when you can select both items and do it at the same time.

Tip_81=Want to rename all of your files to a particular name and number prefix. Highlight them all and then click 'Rename', then select the 'Batch Renaming' tab and enter the new name.
Tip_82=Want to show friends or chat buddies the images in your collection? Use the Thumb sheets function to export your thumbnails to images, then you only need to show them one image for a whole heap of files!
Tip_83=Not sure where that Database image originally came from? Select File Information, it shows the original location of the file.
Tip_84=When using multiple image windows, press Shift+W to quickly display the main Smart Pix window.
Tip_85=Wondering what the '+' or '-' means in the left hand side of your status bar? These indicate that you have 'Stretch to fit' or 'Shrink to fit' enabled.
Tip_86=Work hard while you are young! Nobody ever complained on their deathbed that they shouldn't have retired a multi-millionaire at 35.
Tip_87=If you use different CD-ROM's with Smart Pix, set a descriptive drive name for each CD under 'Source Folders'. Then if you try to view a file on a CD that is not loaded Smart Pix will tell you which CD you need to insert.
Tip_88=Worried about forgetting your password and not being able to access your database? Back-up a version that does not require a password and restore it if you forget.
Tip_89=If you have so many keywords that you can't find the one you want to search on, enable 'Keyword Groups'. This allows you to limit the display of keywords to those that are relevant.
Tip_90=You can use the W or the Up/Down keys to toggle through all your open image windows. If you don't want the main window displayed then use the Up or Down keys.
Tip_91=You can't change the whole world by yourself, but you can change your little piece of it. When everybody improves their little piece of the world then things will change.
Tip_92=You can use the frame from a video as its thumbnail! Simply pause it at the desired frame and then select Thumbnails|Capture Frame to Thumbnail.
Tip_93=You can select more than one file at a time by holding down the Ctrl key while you click each keyword
Tip_94=You can also automatically resize, rotate, flip or convert a series of images by selecting them all and clicking Image|Batch Conversion
Tip_95=If you are in 'Hide All' mode you can still view the toolbar by moving the cursor to the top of the screen, or the status bar my moving to the bottom.
Tip_96=You can view the individual frames of an AVI file by selecting Multimedia|View AVI Frames from the menu
Tip_97=You can edit the frames of an Animated GIF by selecting Image|Edit GIF Frames on the menu
Tip_98=Want to quickly change your 'Shrink to fit' or 'Stretch to fit' zoom options? Click on the box in the very left-hand side of the status bar.
Tip_99=Want to quickly create a new folder when moving or copying a file? Simply type the desired folder into the destination folder box. Smart Pix will advise you that it can't find the folder and ask if you want to create it.

Tip_111=The second quickest way to move or copy files is with the X or C keys. They bring up the move/copy dialog and default to either Move or Copy, respectively
Tip_112=To quickly close a new image window press F4. To quickly close all image windows press Ctrl+W.
Tip_113=To quickly hide everything, except the image, double-click in the image area. Double-click again to return to your previous mode.
Tip_114=To quickly scroll an image, click the left mouse button on the image and drag without releasing the button.
