- Import Help
-
- Files to import can be created using either a text
- editor or spreadsheet program. The various fields
- can be separated either with a comma or tab.
-
- Each record or row will be comprised of individual
- pieces of information or fields in a particular order.
- The fields will be numbered from left to right with
- the left most being number one.
-
- It is not necessary that all the fields be imported.
- Any Swift POS field that does not have a corres-
- ponding entry in the import file should just be
- left blank. The fields in the import file can be
- arranged in any order and the proper number of
- the field should be placed next to its corres-
- ponding Swift POS field. Care should be taken
- not to enter a field number that does not exist
- in the import file as this will generate a program
- error.
-
- The imported information can either be added
- (appended) to the existing database file or a new
- database file can be created holding only the
- imported data. This can be selected with the
- APPEND checkbox. When the user chooses to
- create a new database file, the existing file is
- renamed giving it a .xdt extension.
-
- When the field numbers are entered correctly,
- the user should BROWSE for the import file.
- When the file is selected, pressing the IMPORT
- button will import the information.
