  2.    [INTRODUCTION]

  4.    Swift POS is an inexpensive software alternative to
  5.    a cash register point of sale system. The software
  6.    is designed to balance functionality with ease of 
  7.    use.  Swift POS   is also designed to use readily 
  8.    available, generic hardware. This benefits users
  9.    in two ways, the initial cost of a store setting up a
  10.    point of  sale terminal is dramatically reduced and
  11.    the cost of expensive maintenance for specialized
  12.    equipment is eliminated. Below you will find a list
  13.    of MINIMUM hardware requirements for running this
  14.    software.

  18.    a. 300mhz and above CPU
  19.    b. 128MB RAM
  20.    c. 2GB Hard Disk
  21.    d. 800x600 Video Display
  22.    e. Standard PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse
  23.    f. Generic USB/Parallel Inkjet or Laserjet printer
  24.    g. Optional Logic Controls CR3002 cash drawer
  25.    h. Optional Logic Controls PD3000 pole display
  26.    i. Optional 'Modified' CueCat barcode scanner
  27.    j. Optional Nurit 2085 credit card terminal 
  28.    k. Windows 98,ME,2K,XP

  32.    When the program is run for the first time, the user
  33.    will be greeted with an input panel asking for the
  34.    path to the database files. For a single user appli-
  35.    cation, no changes need to be made to the default
  36.    location and the user SHOULD just  hit the OK but-
  37.    ton  to  proceed to the  next step.  If you are using
  38.    more than one workstation, use  the following steps
  39.    to set up your network installation.

  41.    a. Install datafiles into the default location 
  42.             C:\Program Files\Swift POS  
  43.    b. Copy the ten database files from the default
  44.       folder to the shared network folder that will
  45.       act as your central database location

  58.    c. Install Swift POS on all workstations entering
  59.       the path to the shared network folder holding
  60.       the database files
  61.    d. If any of the workstations have already had the
  62.       program loaded but do not have the correct data
  63.       path, the path can be changed by selecting the
  64.       DATA PATH option under the EDIT menu at the
  65.       top  of the screen
  66.    e. When the program restarts, it will prompt the
  67.       user for the correct data path
  68.    f. The current database path can be checked by
  69.       selecting either the CUSTOMER DB, PRODUCT DB,
  70.       or SALE DB items under the VIEW selection at
  71.       the top of the screen. The path is listed on the
  72.       bottom of the panel that appears
