- Instructions
- ---------------
- Here are the instructions for F-Zero, my entry to the Caiman Games Competition.
-
- The Menu
- -------------
-
- On the menu you can select a cup, or time trial mode. More time trials
- are accessed by completing courses in the cups. Each cup has 4 stages,
- but there are no extra stages opened up if you complete the 4th stage.
-
- Use Enter, Escape and the Arrow Keys to navigate the menu.
-
-
- The Game
- -------------
-
- You have to finish the 3 laps within the time limit and without running
- out of life.
-
- Passing each transparent gate gives you a time bonus.
-
- The controls are the arrow keys (turn left/right, accelerate and brake)
- and Z for boost.
-
- You can press Enter to quit your current attempt, but if you are in cup
- mode this will mean losing a life.
-
- Press Escape at any time to return to the menu. If you do this in cup mode
- you will have to start the cup again from stage 1 the next time you attempt it.
-
-
- Track Features
- -------------------
-
- There are a number of track features which you will encounter.
-
- Green Panel - Life bar goes up
- Pink Panel - Boost bar goes up
- Lava Panel - Life bar goes down
- Earth Panel - Slows you down
- Ice Panel - Very Low Grip
- Arrow Panel - Speeds you up briefly
-
- Rock - Blocks your way but does no damage
- Bomb - Explodes on impact, causing 25% damage
- Jump - Yellow jump block enables you to clear gaps
- Hole in the track - You must avoid these at all costs
-
- Narrow track - At certain points the track becomes very narrow and you must
- be careful to avoid falling off the edge while still keeping up a decent speed
-
- Note: Using the brake cancels any current boost, allowing you to regulate the rate at
- which you use the boost, as well as enabling you to stop before you fall off the track.
-
-
- Music
- --------
- The music in the game comes from F-Zero on the SNES and was tracked by Michael Nixon.
- You can press M to toggle the music on and off.
