************************************ ****U.S. Upgrade Information**** ************************************ The 3Com Modem Update Wizard makes it easy for you to update your U.S. Robotics(R) modem software code. Follow the simple on screen instructions to update your modem's current speed code, or upgrade to 56K technology from 3Com. This wizard identifies the make and model of your U.S. Robotics modem and lets you purchase an upgrade or download a free update to your current modem code. U.S. Robotics x2 (TM) modems, including Courier(TM), Sportster(R), and Sportster 33.6 modems which have previously been upgraded to x2 technology, are eligible to receive a FREE upgrade to the ITU 56K technology standard. Please note: Free upgrade offer ends December 31, 1998. U.S. Robotics 33.6 desktop modems purchased after August 15, 1996, and all U.S. Robotics 28.8 and 33.6 Winmodem(TM) products regardless of purchase date, can be upgraded to the ITU standard for $60.00. Proof of purchase (dated sales receipt) may be required. All Flash Rom upgradable Courier modems, regardless of current speed or purchase date, can be upgraded to the ITU 56K modem standard. Please note: Upgrades to 33.6 or slower Courier modems purchased in the United States will cost $60.00, upgrades from x2 technology to the standard will be FREE. Please call 1-888-I-WANT-56 in United States and Canada. For Courier modems outside of the United States and Canada, please call the country which corresponds to your location for more information on your Courier modem. If you purchased a U.S. Robotics Sportster modem before 8-15-96, your modem is not upgradable to the 56K standard. These older modems were not designed to support 56K technology. To find out how to purchase a new U.S. Robotics modem, please go back to the previous panel and click the "Other" button. To order an ITU upgrade for your U.S. Robotics(R) Modem, call the 3Com Modem Upgrade Center at 1(888) I WANT 56/1-888-4926856. The 3Com representative will need to know your modem's serial number. On external modems, the serial number can be found on a white sticker on the bottom of the modem or on the outside of your modem's original box. On internal modems, the serial number can be found on the modem's PC board. You can use Visa or Mastercard to pay for your upgrade right from your own desktop.
