  5.         This  file describes the new features in recent  USBBSDOR  releases.
  6.         Please refer to USBBSDOR.DOC for a basic description of USBBSDOR.

  9.         * * *   01-24-92  -  Version 4.5   * * *

  11.         Faster loading!  Door batch files may now call USBBSDOR.EXE with the 
  12.         location  in-line,  without  having  to switch  drives  and  cd\  to 
  13.         directories. For example:
  14.         >  echo off
  15.         >  d:\usbbsdor\usbbsdor usbbsdor.cnf d:\pcb
  16.         >  board.bat (if needed)
  17.         The  above results in faster loading (and exit) time since the  door 
  18.         batch file does not have to move the default location around in DOS.
  19.         USBBSDOR will still work fine with the "old" method.
  20.  
  21.         Added  support for Non-DSZ DSZLOG compatible protocols.  USBBSDOR is
  22.         now more flexible when reading DSZLOG files from non-DSZ and non-GSZ
  23.         protocol logs for reporting successful and failed download attempts.
  24.  
  25.         New  parameter in PROTOCOL.DAT allows placement of  USBBSDOR  status 
  26.         line during transfers. For each protocol choice the Sysop may select
  27.         whether  to place the USBBSDOR status line at the Top or  Bottom  of 
  28.         the screen, depending on what works best with the protocol selected.
  29.         For instance, the DSZ protocol works best with the door status  line 
  30.         at the top of the screen, where its graphical counterpart GSZ  works
  31.         best with the door status line at the bottom of the screen.

  33.         New Wildcat 3.0 specific mode will update caller activity logs  with
  34.         downloads, etc. like the PCBoard specific  mode.  Requires  changing
  35.         the BBS type in USBBSDOR.CNF from #3 generic DOOR.SYS to #4 WC 3.0x.
  36.         The Wildcat 2.x CALLINFO.BBS file is no longer supported.

  38.         SEND.BAT now accepts non-standard com port parameters from  USBBSDOR 
  39.         for use with DSZ or GSZ:
  40.           %5 = base address (hex) for com port (use with DSZ portx option).
  41.           %6 = IRQ for com port (use with DSZ portx option).
  42.         See USBBSDOR.DOC and SEND.BAT for details.

  44.         QSUSBBS.EXE  will now utilize a "destructive" backspace at its input 
  45.         prompt.  The non-destructive backspace utilized in the first release 
  46.         could make input editing difficult.

  48.         NOTE:  The rest of the version 4.5 enhancements below deal with  the 
  49.         display text files used by USBBSDOR: MENU, HELLO, HELP, AREA, STATE,
  50.         MODEM, and BRAND.

  52.         Added  support for Wildcat 3.0 color macros in text files.  USBBSDOR 
  53.         will automatically use either PCBoard or Wildcat! color macros  when 
  54.         either  are found.  The display text files released in  USBDOR45.ZIP 
  55.         use  PCBoard color macros.  Run USB-CONV.EXE to convert the enclosed
  56.         PCBoard color macro files to Wildcat macros (for editing purposes).

  58.         The  ANSI  text file handler has been greatly improved.  Sysops  not 
  59.         familiar with (or not wanting to use) the PCBoard or Wildcat!  color 
  60.         macro type files now have more flexibility with the plain Ascii  and 
  61.         ANSI  "two file" method.  Run USB-CONV.EXE to convert  the  enclosed
  62.         PCBoard macro files to Ascii\ANSI files (for editing purposes).

  64.         Previously,  some  Sysops experienced difficulty  when  editing  the 
  65.         multi-paged text files such as HELP and AREA. USBBSDOR now  supports 
  66.         the linking of files together, by specifying the "next" filename  in  
  67.         the  file currently being displayed.  This is done by  placing a "%"
  68.         (percent) in the LEFT-MOST (column #1) position on the last line  of 
  69.         the  current  file. The % must then IMMEDIATELY be followed  by  the 
  70.         file  you wish USBBSDOR to append, such as %HELP2.  This allows  the 
  71.         Sysop  to  edit each page easily and  separately,  especially  those 
  72.         wishing to use ANSI files.  See USBBSDOR.DOC for instructions.

  78.         New! QSUSBBS off-line USBBS list searcher and viewer. Small and very 
  79.         fast.  Can be used to search USBBS lists for area codes, states,  or 
  80.         any text. If USBBSDOR is registered, QSUSBBS.EXE can be personalized 
  81.         with  your  BBS  name and phone number.  This  personalization  will 
  82.         appear when QSUSBBS is started, displaying "This copy of QSUSBBS  is 
  83.         compliments of:" followed by your BBS name and phone number. This is 
  84.         a great advertisement for YOUR BBS, since QSUSBBS may be distributed 
  85.         separately (as outlined in the enclosed documentation).

  87.         If QSUSBBS.ZIP (containing QSUSBBS.EXE & QSUSBBS.DOC) is  installed,
  88.         USBBSDOR  will  allow the caller to choose between  downloading  the 
  89.         current USBBS list or QSUSBBS.

  91.         Many brands of BBS software were recently added to that category  in 
  92.         the  USBBS  listings. The BRAND.HLP file  enclosed  in  USBDOR44.ZIP 
  93.         reflects these additions.

  98.         Added  support for the new area code format (area codes ending  with
  99.         a zero),  which the USBBS listings began supporting in the  09-01-91
  100.         release. Previous versions of USBBSDOR would report an invalid  area
  101.         code if these new area code formats (510, 310, 410) were entered.

  103.         Added  support to use a solid line separating listings as  they  are
  104.         displayed.  The Sysop may now choose between no lines, solid  lines,
  105.         or a line of dashes to separate individual BBS listings.

  107.         Support for extended node /X PCBoard software added.

  109.         The help file for the area code prompt (AREA.HLP) has  been  updated
  110.         to contain the new area codes scheduled to be in operation soon.

  115.         As  of  this  release, USBBSDOR has been  updated  and  continuously 
  116.         supported for four years! (7/6/87 - 7/6/91)

  118.         (F)ast-search  command.  The Sysop may configure  the  (F)ast-search 
  119.         command  to  immediately display an Area code or State  without  any 
  120.         additional prompting of the caller.  The (F)ast-search configuration 
  121.         parameter is in the local setup screen (USBBSDOR /L). Simply enter a 
  122.         three digit area code, or a two digit state code (Sysop option).

  124.         Non-standard  COM ports (3 - 8) may now be configured in  USBBSDOR's 
  125.         configuration file.  Previous versions of USBBSDOR read  PCBOARD.DAT 
  126.         (PCBoard),  CONFIGWC.BBS (Wildcat), or a Sysop specified environment 
  127.         variable for non-standard port base address and IRQ information. 
  128.  
  129.         Spitfire (SFDOORS.DAT) compatibility.
  130.           
  131.         Remote  Access  (DORINFO1.DEF) compatibility. Previous  versions  of 
  132.         USBBSDOR only supported the DORINFO1.DEF file created by RBBS.

  134.         On PCBoard systems, the caller may enter search information from the 
  135.         PCBoard main prompt. For instance, the caller may enter USBBS 813 to
  136.         immediately search the list for area code 813, then exit USBBSDOR.

  138.         @F@ = (F)ast-search text file macro. This is replaced in text  files 
  139.         with the specified information from the (F)ast-search parameter.

  141.         The  (O)perator page command was removed in this release  due to the 
  142.         lack of "page" information in most BBS door information files.

  147.         The  Sysop may specify whether to place a horizontal line of  dashes 
  148.         between each listing when it is displayed.

  150.         USBBSDOR becomes FULLY automated!  When you place a new  USBBSxx.ZIP 
  151.         in  the location specified in the USBBSDOR  configuration,  USBBSDOR 
  152.         will detect the newer USBBSxx.LST *INSIDE* and automatically extract 
  153.         it to the appropriate location!! (Available only when registered).

  157.         The  local maintenance and installation mode is now  DESQview  aware 
  158.         and  "well behaved".  Previously, just the 'door mode'  was DESQview

  168.         Version 4.0 was a major re-write of USBBSDOR.

  170.         USBBSDOR is completely automatic with regard to updating the monthly 
  171.         USBBS  list.  The Sysop simply places the new list  in  a  specified 
  172.         location,  and USBBSDOR uses it! (same for the download ZIP file  if 
  173.         downloading is enabled).

  175.         List conversion is no longer necessary.
  176.         
  177.         The information files (still called USBBS.SYM and USBBS.INF) are now
  178.         created  automatically if they don't exist,  and are re-created when 
  179.         the Sysop installs a new USBBS list.

  181.         The list is now colorized on the fly if the caller is in color mode.

  183.         The list can be searched by 9600 baud modem brand, BBS brand, and
