  2. Welcome to T&J Software's Video Poker! (CUSTOM MODE)
  3.  
  4.    Video Poker is setup to duplicate the standard video poker type of
  5.    machine which are found in various locations.
  6.  
  7.    Basically, you enter your bet by pressing the E or - key, and
  8.    then type in your bet.  The next round if you choose to enter the
  9.    same bet, you may enter the S or + key for automatic entry of your
  10.    last bet.  After selecting the same bet as last time or entering
  11.    a new bet, the first set of five cards appear. You then select the
  12.    cards you wish to keep by selecting the card number (from 1 to 5).
  13.    A yellow 'KEEP' will flash below your choosen cards.  You then select
  14.    'D' or simply hit the ENTER key for your second draw of cards.

  16.    A small status display in the upper right portion of then main
  17.    screen tells you your current hand status by placing a blinking
  18.    check mark inside the brackets.
  19.  
  20.    On the very top of the screen, you'll see how your SysOp has the
  21.    game configured for payoffs. Let's say it says "You need JACKS or
  22.    better." That means the game will not payoff unless you have at
  23.    least a pair of JACKS. Anything less than that will not payoff.

  25.    This door resets every monday during the BBS maintenance. So, if
  26.    you're running behind bet it all on Sunday evenings! You never
  27.    know, you may catch up or surpass the leader!

  29.    One exception to this is if your sysop selects a custom reset
  30.    date!! The date of reset will always be shown to you when you
  31.    enter the door!

  33.    Each new bet starts the turn with a new deck of cards.

  35.    The status of the payoffs can be viewed by pressing the 'P' key.
  36.    This will show you the payoff versus what card combinations you
  37.    have. On the right, it shows what combinations had already come up.

  39.    The game also keeps track of the all time high score and last weeks
  40.    high score. These can be viewed by pressing the 'V' key.

  42.    In case you get some line garbage, you can always press the 'R' key
  43.    to quickly redraw the current screen.

  45.    Want to view the top ten players? Just tap the 'T' key and you'll
  46.    be presented with the current top ten. As you play, check this and
  47.    watch your name crawl up the list!

  49.    When you're ready to quit the game, just hit the 'Q' key and the
  50.    game will generate the current top ten list and the bulletins.

  52.    If you run out of money, you're finished until monday when the door
  53.    resets. So watch how much you bet!
  54.  
  55.    This door also has a BONUS feature which your sysop may or may not
  56.    choose to use. Basically, a certain amount of money is placed in
  57.    the jackpot each time you play a hand of poker. The best hand of
  58.    the day will receive this jackpot money tomorrow! Be sure to logon
  59.    and claim the money, or you lose it!

  61.    High hand numbers are determined like this:

  63.          Royal Flush           =  100,000 points
  64.          Straight Flush        =  50,000
  65.          Four of a Kind        =  25,000
  66.          Full House            =  12,500
  67.          Flush                 =  10,000
  68.          Straight              =  7,500
  69.          Three of a Kind       =  5,000
  70.          Two Pair              =  2,500
  71.          One Pair              =  1,000

  73.    In addition to these points, you then add the card values
  74.    themselves. A two = 2 points and so on up to an Ace = 14 points.
  75.    So, if you draw a Full House with 2-Fours and 3-Aces, your hand
  76.    value would be 12,550. Somebody would have to beat your 12,550
  77.    point hand to claim the jackpot tomorrow! You'll be told when you
  78.    quit the game if you have the high hand thus far!
