  7. Credit card processing for your BBS or ShareWare programming!

  10. If the ability to accept VISA, MASTERCARD, CARTE BLANCHE, DINER'S 
  11. CLUB, and JCB cards sounds appealing, read on!
  12.  
  13. Teleflora CreditLine, a 3rd party credit card processor, wants to 
  14. do business with you. They are actively seeking Sysops and 
  15. ShareWare authors to join their established base of thousands of 
  16. small businesses.
  17.  
  18. If you have investigated credit cards before, don't be dis-
  19. couraged! TeleFlora knows your business is out of your home!
  20. They know all your orders are over the phone!
  21.  
  22. THAT'S OK WITH TELEFLORA. Here's what they can do for you:
  23.  
  24.     > Process Visa & MC at discount rates from 2.25% to 3.1%,
  25.         depending on the payment options YOU select.  Other 
  26.         cards range from 3.25% to 4% (this is the amount of 
  27.         each transaction that is Teleflora's fee).
  28.  
  29.     > Your choice of payment options, either electronic deposit 
  30.         to your  checking account or a check sent every two 
  31.         weeks.
  32.  
  33.     > Your Customers' credit card statements will have the 
  34.         name of YOUR BBS or ShareWare company.
  35.  
  36.     > If you have a merchant account with American Express,
  37.         they can make arrangements for you to use that 
  38.         through your credit card terminal as well.  Your 
  39.         discount rates and payment type/schedule will still be 
  40.         strictly between you and American Express, however.
  41.  
  42.     > No minimum volume requirements!  (Actually, if your 
  43.         volume is high, you may qualify for EVEN LOWER rate 
  44.         options).

  46. Here's what it costs:
  47.  
  48.     > There is a $100 NON-REFUNDABLE application fee.  If your
  49.         application is not approved, this fee is NOT returned.  
  50.         See below for details on approval guidelines and 
  51.         requirements, so surprises can be avoided!
  52.  
  53.     > There is a small percentage of each transaction that is 
  54.         taken out before paying you.  This varies by card type 
  55.         and your choice of payment option.
  56.  
  57.     > There may be a transaction fee of $.25 for each 
  58.         transaction regardless of dollar amount or card type.  
  59.         This is included with their lower rate options.
  60.  
  61. Here's what TELEFLORA looks for:
  62.  
  63.     > An established BBS or ShareWare author/company. They 
  64.         will want to verify that you have been in operation at 
  65.         LEAST 6 months. Preferably longer!
  66.  
  67.     > For a BBS, they will want your access phone numbers, 
  68.         hours of operation, and supported connect rates 
  69.         (2400bps, V.32, HST, etc.). If new callers are severely 
  70.         restricted, they will need to arrange access so that
  71.         they may log on and take a look around!
  72.  
  73.     > For ShareWare, they will need to see the programs that 
  74.         you offer.  A description and filename should be 
  75.         enough, but please provide a KNOWN source in case
  76.         they have difficulty finding the program(s) locally.
  77.  
  78.     > Good personal credit.  Since most BBS's and ShareWare
  79.         programs are not a primary source of income, they will 
  80.         be using your personal credit as a reference. Judge-
  81.         ments, tax liens, and unpaid accounts will almost 
  82.         certainly get your application DECLINED.
  83.  
  84.     > You must be at least 18 years old.
  85.  
  86.     > At this time, you must be U.S. based.  You will be able to 
  87.         accept cards issued by foreign banks, but TELEFLORA 
  88.         can only permitted to handle merchants in the U.S.
  89.  
  90.     > They will not be able to handle 'adult' boards. This
  91.         requirement becomes very subjective, so if you are 
  92.         concerned that it may apply, please give them info to 
  93.         access your board or program, and they'll let you know 
  94.         BEFORE you apply (and shell out $100).
  95.  
  96.         Basically, if 'X' rated GIF's are permitted, you will not 
  97.         be approved. If your board is primarily 'adult' 
  98.         conferences and files, you will not be approved.  If a 
  99.         small portion is adult related (and nothing very 
  100.         explicit), there should not be a problem.

  105.         pm PST Monday thru Friday. You can also leave a 
  106.         message at other times.

  108.     > Tell her that a present Merchant, Clint Bradford of 
  109.         ATTENTION TO DETAILS, referred you to TELEFLORA. 
  110.         You will be taken care of!
  111.  
  112.     > Ask for an Application. She'll send you some information,
  113.         and be able to answer any immediate questions you 
  114.         may have.
