  6.    Welcome to the Silver Xpress Mail System Version 4.00!
  7.  
  8.    Silver Xpress is a 6 year old,  powerful off-line mail system
  9.    available for the growing BBS industry.  Simply put, there is
  10.    really nothing like Silver Xpress in the BBS world.
  11.  
  12.    Silver Xpress has been the basis for many features and functionality
  13.    found in many of the off-line systems, and now with Silver Xpress 4.00,
  14.    it will establish the basis, once again, with new technology and features
  15.    which include fax, forms, mail driven events, off-line services,
  16.    Groupware applications possibilities, interface menu customization and
  17.    much more!

  19.    The new, main feature in version 4.00 is the optional direct support for
  20.    the creating and tossing of QWK mail packets.  But there are many more
  21.    new features in Silver Xpress Version 4.00.

  27.    To install Silver Xpress, type INSTALL.EXE at the DOS prompt.  If you
  28.    wish to manually install Silver Xpress, read the INSTALL.DOC file.

  30.    Even though it may seem very technical and detailed, installing Silver
  31.    Xpress is very simple.  If you have a printer, we recommend you print
  32.    out the CHECKOFF.LST file.  This file contains a list of things that you
  33.    should consider when installing and configuring Silver Xpress.

  35.    After the install process is completed, all you need to do is the
  36.    following:
  37.  
  38.    1. Check XPRESS.BAT (XPRESS for PCBOARD) and copy it over to your BBS
  39.       directory.  This is your DOOR batch file for Xpress.  Edit it and
  40.       make the appropriate changes to call this batch file from your BBS.
  41.  
  42.       Sample batch files (utilities and menus for your BBS) are provided in
  43.       BBSTOOLS.ZIP file.
  44.  
  45.    2. Xpress requires external utilities such as PKZIP, LHARC or others to
  46.       compress mail.  They must be callable from Xpress.  Make sure they
  47.       can be located by putting them in a PATHED directory.  You can copy
  48.       to the Xpress directory if you wish.

  50.    Thats it!  Except for RBBS and PCBOARD, you can type XPMAIL -J to run
  51.    Xpress in local mode to test it out.  (-J will retrieve the FIRST user
  52.    from the BBS user database file)

  55.    documentation available in SX400DOC.ZIP.  Other documents available

  135.           sysops' users of the Silver Xpress Mail Reader.  It is not
  136.           intended to be a very detailed, technical discussion area for
  137.           sysops.  Use the XPRESS_SYSOP echo for such matters.

  142.           This is the FIDONET support conference for SYSOPS using the
  143.           Silver Xpress Reader and Mail Doors. It is intended to be a
  144.           detailed, technical discussion area for sysops. Discussions
  145.           include how to improve operations of Silver Xpress and how
  146.           to better improve the "interface" of Silver Xpress with the
  147.           BBS the sysop is using. These are items in which the end user
  148.           is not interested.

  153.        Netmail is highly discouraged by Santronics Software for rapid
  154.        response.  Response will not be guaranteed to be immediate, and
  155.        will take up to 1 week or more.  We ask that you limit netmail
  156.        to registrations, purchasing and beta testing request issues.

  158.        XPRESS_SYSOP echo.

  160.     2) BBS TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  162.        You may also call the Santronics Software Xpress Support Remote
  163.        Host Center at 305-248-7815 and leave an electronic message with
  164.        your questions or comments.  A reply will be available within 48
  165.        hours.

  167.        All patches, minor upgrades and other files will be available on
  168.        this Xpress Technical Support BBS center.

  172.        Customers who are unregistered can use our voice support line at
  173.        305-248-3204 (EST 9-5pm) for questions and comments.

  175.        Paid Version 4.00 registered customers have 1 hour of free support
  176.        using our 800 number at 800-845-6944 (EST 9am-9pm).  Have your
  177.        registration number ready.  Unregistered customers may call this
  178.        number if they are going to purchase or upgrade to version 4.00.
  179.        Keep in mind, the 800 number is NOT cheap, and we are not Microsoft,
  180.        and even THEY don't offer 800 support of any kind.

  186.        1) Customers who registered Silver Xpress Version 3.00 are
  187.           eligible for a free upgrade to Silver Xpress Version 4.00.
  188.           No new registration code is required.

  190.        2) Registered sysops of 2.2x can upgrade for a nominal fee.  To
  191.           receive your new registration code, please fill out the order
  192.           form (in order.txt), or you may call 800-845-6944 for credit
  193.           card orders.  The basic charge is $15.00 or $27.50 with printed
  194.           documentation, plus shipping and handling.
