- Released Version 3.5n
-
- VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
- **** Make sure you have your tax tables defined properly. ****
-
- The following files have been modified or added and are required
- for proper operation:
-
- SALES.EXE
- CONVDB.EXE Note: Please regenerate indexes.
- OPTION1.EXE
- OPTION2.EXE
- SALESTAX.EXE
- SALESTXT.EXE
- SALES.CFG
- SALESTXT
-
- Be sure to run setup options 1, 2, and 3, and recreate your
- indexes.
-
- Added taxation tables. The taxation tables work as follows.
- 1 - Set your Default tax.
- 2 - Build tables by Province/State, Postal/Zip Code, Country,
- tax1, tax2, tax3.
- 3 - Modify your SALES.BBS to refelect the taxes that apply to
- each Item. This works as follows:
- Column 62 - 64 will contain a 'Y' if you wish that tax to
- be applied. If you wish to use the first tax You would enter
- YNN, for the first 2 tax rates enter YYN, for all 3 tax rates
- enter YYY. Please realize that the taxes apply against each
- other.
-
- ie: Let's assume TAX1 = 10.00%, TAX2 = 10.00%, AND TAX3 = 10.00%
- A user places an order for an item that costs $10.00.
- The result would be as follows:
-
- $10.00
- x TAX1 0.10
- -------------
- = $1.00
- + ITEM $10.00
- -------------
- = $11.00 RESULT 1
- x TAX2 0.10
- -------------
- = $1.10
- + RES1 $11.00
- -------------
- = $12.10 RESULT 2
- x TAX3 0.10
- -------------
- = $1.21
- + RES2 $12.10
- -------------
- = $13.21 FINAL RESULT
-
- You will notice that the user no longer has the option for
- taxation selection. The system generates the tax in the following
- order.
-
- Compares the users Province/State, Postal/Zip Code, and Country
- against the tax tables. It searches for the best match, if any.
- If it finds a match it processes the specified taxation. If
- there is no match it will use the SINGLE default tax from setup
- options 1. Do not forget that the taxes are applied against each
- other.
-
- Added PCX/TXT Split Screen Viewing. This capability allows the
- user to view a PCX image and page up and down through a text file
- at the same time.
- In order to enable this function you must:
-
- 1) Create a directory that you will keep the PCX and Text files in.
- 2) Enter Setup Options 2 and specify where the image files will be
- stored.
- 3) Create or contact us to create the image files for you. These
- are standard PCX files. At the momnet they must be limited to
- a maximum resolution of 160 x 200. We will be adding more
- functionality shortly. The PCX files must be named [ITEM#].PCX.
- Therefore, to view a graphical representation of item # 12, you
- must have a 12.PCX in the images directory.
- 4) Create the text files for each item #. The same rules apply as
- above. There is one additional rule, the txt file cannot be
- more than 28 columns wide. You can have as many lines as you
- want but it will display no more than 28 Columns.
-
- Included is a file named SL_PCX11.ZIP. This is an external protocol
- that can be loaded under different communications packages in order
- to enable them to use the view functionality of the Sales Door.
- These files are totally public domain and you may do as you wish
- with them. Included are batch files for Telix, QModem, and Procomm
- Plus.
-
- Rebuilt Setup options 1 & 2. Both now have complete help built
- into them and are totally mouse and keyboard driven.
-
- Modified the SALESTXT program to accept additional lines for the
- PCX/View option.

- is helpful if you do not use the freight functionality but sell
- items in lots. If this is the case just replace the WGT field with
- the lot. ie:
-

-

- Sorry about the delay between releases. I have had quite a
- time in the last 2 months. Between my system crashing and
- my Brother-In-Law being shot while on duty, my mind has been
- other places. Anyways, enough of the boohooing<grin>.
-
- The following files have been updated and will be neccessary
- for the proper operation of the door:

- the menu.
-
- Fixed several hangs that ocurred when a user dropped the
- carrier.
-
- Fixed the messing up of the categories screen, I think. If

- the flagging of an item.

- the system to hang.
-
- - Fixed a bug in the setup options screen 2 that would only
- allow 1 digit for conference designation.
-
- - Fixed a bug that created a runtime 2 error in the display
- categories module of the door. This was a hard one to
- beat!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
- - Created a users file for The On-Line Sales Door
- The door now keeps a users file for it's users.
- The user will only need to fill in the order placement
- screen once. It works as follows:
- The first time this version of the door is run it will
- create a file named SALEUSER. This is the user file.
- When the user enters into the order placement screen
- the system will check against SALEUSER to see if this
- person has placed an order before. If it finds a matching
- record it will pull up the previous entries and ask the
- user if they wish to edit the entries. If the user answers
- yes the system will store the changed entries.
-
- ****** THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE ITEMS ************
-
- ****** NOTE *********
- If you have a previous version you will need to run option
- 'D', Define a Language File, from the setup menu. This will
- properly update your SALESTXT file. If you are using the
- default prompts that come with the Sales door then just copy
- the SALESTXT file included with this release and ignore the
- above.
-
- 07-30-91 - Here goes a pile!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
- ******************** NOTE ************************
- This is release 3.5G. You will have to run the new
- setup program to proprerly operate the latest version.
-
- There are now 2 General Setup screens. Please access
- both screens in order. It's safer<grin>.
-
- 07-30-91 - Added the ability to import invoices and memberships
- to a conference message base.
-
- - Modified the membership portion to automatically enter
- the order placement module and pull the membership with
- it. This is performed using TXT2MSG. The release file
- has been included in this archive.
-
- - Fixed the printer bug. The system now just spools the
- whole file to the printer.
-
- - The system no longer differentiates between the memberships
- and invoices when printing.
-
- - Optimized the size of the file.
-
- - The following is a list of necessary executable files:
- SALES.EXE
- SETUP.EXE
- OPTION1.EXE
- OPTION2.EXE
- CONVDB.EXE
- SALESTXT.EXE
-
- 07-16-91 - The following files have been modified in release
- 3.5F:
-
- SALES.EXE
- CONVDB.EXE
-
- Due to the changes it is essential that you recreate
- your indexes.
-
- 07-16-91 - Optimized the indexing section of the setup program.
- Please recreate your indexes before running this new
- version.
-
- 07-16-91 - Fixed bugs that hung the system. Not 100 % sure I have
- it fixed as of yet. Please let me know if you have a
- problem.

- item numbers.

- search module.

- requested from two different networks. FIDONet at
- 1:259/206 or PODNet at 93:9630/6. The magic word is
- SALES.
-
- 06-26-91 - Fixed a bug that caused a runtime error in the categories
- section of the program.
-
- 06-16-91 - Fixed bug on main menu that prompted with stxt[?]
- Fixed bug that did not allow zmodem to show on protocol
- menu
-
- 06-11-91 - Added Print Option
- You can now select whether or not you wish to print your
- invoices and memberships. If you set the flags to yes,
- inside the General Setups options screen, the system will
- automatically print the invoice or membership to the parallel
- printer port you have selected within PCBoard.
-
- 06-11-91 - Added Languages Capabilities.
- You can now define language files that will be called
- according to the language selected by PCBoard. The
- file named SALESTXT.EXE can perform this function. It can
- be run as both a door and stand alone. I have added routines
- in the General Setup module that will generate the proper
- batch file for running SALESTXT.EXE locally.
-
- SALESTXT accesses files named SALESTXT.???. The ???
- stands for the PCBoard language file extension.
- ie: PCBOARD.FRE will result in SALES looking for
- a file named SALESTXT.FRE. If it does not exist
- it will default to SALESTXT.
-
- I have made SALESTXT.EXE into a door for various reasons.
- The least of which is portability.
-
- As most of you know, you will need valid PCBOARD.SYS and
- PCBOARD.DAT files to run this way. For thos of you who
- don't know, simply go into PCBoard locally, from the main
- menu press F5. Copy PCBOARD.SYS and PCBOARD.DAT to a
- your sales directory. Go into the SETUP program for SALES
- and create a new configuration with all paths to leading to
- you sales door directory. Save the configuration using F10
- and Select Define Language Files from the Setup Main Menu.
-
- You will now be asked for a filename to edit/convert. Enter
- the name of the file. If it does not exist the system will
- create it for you.
-
- Once you have done this you will see 2 lines of text. The one
- that is red is the line in the file you are editing. The other
- is the original prompt from the sales door.
-
- 06-11-91 - Fixed bugs in the trapping of character values for
- flagging and categories.
-
- 06-08-91 - Fixed a bug in the freight calculation.
-
- 06-08-91 - Version 3.5 Wide Beta Released.
-
- All comments are welcome.

-
- 06-07-91 - Fixed Keyword bug that caused runtime error.
-
- 06-07-91 - Added Freight Option
-
- You can now select whether or not you are going to use
- the freight option in your setup.
-
- If 'N' is specified the door will not prompt for freight
- company.
-
- 06-07-91 - Added Membership Registration Option.
-
- This option will allow you to accept membership registrations
- and automatically upgrade the users security level. If you
- cannot accept VISA, Mastercard, or AMEX, this option will not
- be all tha useful.
-
- It works as follows:
-
- You must first create your memberships list, refer to
- membship.doc and MEMB.TXT. It is really straight
- forward.
- Next, select 'Y' for memberships in the setup program
- option 1.
- Specify what the name of you memberships list is and
- the name of the file you wish to log all membership
- registrations to.
- Save the configuration file.
-
- When you run the door you will see that another option will
- appear on the main menu.
-
- 06-06-91 - Added Indexing, Category Functionality and increased limits.
-
- THE DATABASE IS NOW UNLIMITED!!!!!!
-
- The On-Line Sales Door now works with indexing. To index
- your current database use selection 2 from the setup program.
-
- This conversion will create 26 SALESNDX.? files, a CATEGORY.BBS,
- an 10 ITEMNO?.NDX and as many CAT?.BBS files as you have categories
- defined.
-
- This may take a while depending on the size of your databse.
- I have tested it on a file with 5500 entries and a 286-10. It
- took about 5 minutes.
-
- I fixed the bug with the categories. The system will now handle
- up to 99999 categories and as many items in each category as you
- need. That should be enough<grin>.

- against the above rates.
-
- If you do not have one of the above keys you cannot access credit card
- verification, downloading of invoices, or save more than 1 order at a
- time. There is also about a 20 second delay upon entering the door
- that will dissappear.
-
- Version 3.4b of The On-Line sales door contains all information. As of
- this point I will not support any earlier versions of the sales door.
- Please download the appropriate file and your registration Key.
-
-
- 05-13-91 - Added Credit Card Verification.
-
- - When Running Setup if you enter a 'Y' for Credit Cards will
- enable the credit card verification Routines.
- If card verification is enabled you also have to select which
- cards you use on the system. At the moment VISA, Mastercard, and
- AMEX are supported.
-
- 05-26-91
-

- sorting of configurations, reading and modification of existing
- configurations.
