- (feel free to delete the rest of this file before sending to RBBS-PC support)
-
- INSTRUCTIONS:
-
- This file has several uses:
-
- 1) Editors of the US BBS list, and other curious callers, can get quick
- information about your BBS.
-
- 2) Sending this file to the RBBS-PC support BBS will register you as
- an RBBS-PC SysOp.
-
- 3) Information from this file will be sent to the US BBS list editors
- by RBBS-PC support (only if you want us to)
-
- To complete this form, follow these steps:
-
- NOTE: DO NOT ADD, DELETE, OR CHANGE LINES IN THIS FORM UNLESS YOU ARE
- INSTRUCTED TO DO SO!
-
- The first section of this form is the US BBS list information form. You
- should enter your information on each line, but ONLY inside the [ ] areas.
- Do NOT delete or move the [ ] characters. If there isn't enough room
- inside the [ ] to answer the question, SHORTEN YOUR ANSWER!
-
- The first question (send to USBBS list?) is important. If you enter "N" in
- this box, RBBS-PC support will NOT forward the information to US BBS list
- editors. You should still enter all information, since RBBS-PC support
- uses the information also. If you answer "Y", RBBS-PC support will send a
- copy of the information to US BBS list editors, so they can consider adding
- your BBS to the US BBS list.
-
- The second question is also important. EVERY TIME YOU MODIFY OR CHECK THIS
- FILE FOR ACCURACY, enter the current date here. This way, we will know if
- the information is current. Each time you send this file to RBBS-PC
- support, check your answers, and change the date.
-
- The next section of this form requests additional information for the
- RBBS-PC world registry. RBBS-PC support uses this section for:
-
- - selecting beta test sites
- - helping new SysOps find local RBBS-PC systems.
-
- Complete this section as you did the US BBS section. Again, stay within
- the [ ] (unless a question doesn't have [ ]). Notice the "PRIVATE" next to
- the VOICE PHONE, ADDRESS and BBS PHONE NUMBER? If you put a "Y" in these
- boxes, RBBS-PC support WILL NOT give this information to anyone else.
- However, if you don't mind voice calls, and you put a "N" next to your
- voice number, RBBS-PC support may give your number to a new SysOp in your
- area who needs help.
-
- In any case, please include all information, even if you wish to keep it
- private.
-
- The line after "number of nodes" is where you enter information about each
- node of your BBS. If you run more than one node, duplicate the "phone
- number" line for each node. If you have private phone numbers (for
- subscribers), put a "Y" in the PRIVATE box. In the SPEED box, enter one of
- the following numbers:
-
- 1 - 300 bps Note: options such as MNP,
- 2 - 1200 bps V.42, V.42bis are NOT
- 3 - 2400 bps (CCITT V.22bis) important. Just be
- 4 - 9600 bps (non-standard) concerned with the actual
- 5 - 9600 bps (CCITT V.32) speed your modem can handle.
- 6 - 14400 bps (USRobotics HST)
- 7 - 14400 bps (CCITT V.32bis)
-
- Use the HIGHEST number your modem supports. Ex: If you have a USRobotics
- dual standard V.32bis, use 7, even though the modem also supports 6, 5,
- etc.
-
- The last section of the form is free-form. Use the space provided to tell
- us more about your BBS. It helps us to know how RBBS-PC is being used by
- all our SysOps.
-
- ----------------------------------
-
- Okay, you've taken the time to fill out this form, now...
-
- What do you do with it?
-
- First, save the file using the name of your BBS as the filename. For
- example, if your BBS is called "MegaBytes RBBS-PC", name the file:
- MEGABYTE.DEF. The ".DEF" extension will protect the file when you
- upload it to RBBS-PC support. Call the RBBS-PC support BBS at:
- 407-487-3441 or
- 407-487-3442
-
- Upload the file and put it in the "???" category. While you are on the
- BBS, you may also want to answer the "VERIFY" questionnaire (so you can
- get extended access to the BBS. You may also want to answer the "OSB"
- questionnaire, so you can be included in the "official support BBS" list.
- Of course, you should join the RBBS conference and tell the world how much
- fun running RBBS-PC is.
-
- You should also save a copy of this file using the original name "LG-9999.DEF"
- for online use. Remove any PRIVATE information. In fact, we suggest you
- delete everything but the US BBS section. RBBS-PC already comes configured
- to handle the "BBS VERIFY" call option. Here's how this works:
-
- When someone calls your BBS and uses the name "BBS VERIFY" and password
- "CALL", RBBS-PC will display the LG-9999.DEF file and then hang-up.
- Editors of the US BBS list use this method to quickly verify the status
- of an RBBS-PC system (we hope other BBS software will implement this
- feature). You can test the system by logging on your own BBS, and
- when RBBS-PC asks you for your first name, type: BBS VERIFY CALL
- You should see your LG-9999.DEF file, and then RBBS-PC will hang-up.
