-
- Legal Stuff (Lets get it out of the way)
-
-
- Peter May, BBS operators distributing this program
- and anyone else cannot and will not be responsible for any
- damage, file destruction, bugs, flu epedemics, common colds, measles
- or basically and other outcome from the use of this Program. This
- program is an as is proggy. That is you get it, you back up your
- data files, you test it and if you like it you register it AS IS.
- As far as length of time taken to test it, well thats up to you. I
- know that either you like it and its usefull or you don't and you
- don't use it. If you get the guilts then see the rego info at the end.
- Basically is cardware plus a phone call to pick up a
- message that will include your key. I will send it Via Internet if
- you have this available or post you back a letter if thats what you
- want.
- I offer no indiction of any upgrades or guarantee no support but I will
- say this is all I do after my usual work so no doubt if you send me
- a question or bug report, I will try and have an answer for you in
- 24 hrs and suggestions will be looked into.
-
- This program has been tested to the best of my ability by several
- people and so far no major bugs although in an earlier version I
- happened to produce a 32 meg user base (HA HA).
-
-
- NOW WHAT IT DOES
-
- I use Silver Xpress as my offline mail door/reader (A fine product
- of Hector Santos and Santronics Software) and Remote Access 2.02
- (In my opinion the best software for running a BBS By Wantree
- Development & Andrew Milner).
- By The Way this program works with RA2.02 and Silver Xpress for RA
- Version 5.00
- Problem was that in Silver Xpress you can set individual security
- levels for different things but me being a lazy persion (most of my
- utils are written for this reason) I wanted something that made
- their security level the same as that in RA. I could remember them
- from RA as in Donating Membership has a level of 26 so I would make
- them the same. The rest basically grew from there.
- ****************************************************************************
-
- Features (+ indicates a registered feature)
-
- The Security Level and flags options are selectable in the
- RA2SX.CFG file.
-
- If turned on will adjust the security level in
- XPUSER.DAT to that in RA
-
- If selected will turn on or off flags in RA depending on
- if the user has AUTOSTART and VACATION SAVER on in Silver Xpress
- (I use this to take the users on my BBS to Silver Xpress
- instead of to the main menu etc)
-
- Will write a file called NO-USER.LST listing the number
- of the user in XPUSER.DAT, the name and whether the user has
- Vacation saver turned on posibly meaning there is mail packets
- waiting for him if the user is no longer listed in USERS.BBS
- (The RA user Base). It is up to you to delete the users listed
- or leave them there.
-
- + Will back up XPUSER.DAT
-
- + Will write to the log file.
-
-
- Now for the *******SET UP*******
-
- ************************************************************************************
-
- Drop the RA2SX.EXE and RA2SX.CFG file in the same directory as
- Silver Xpress. Make sure the RA enviroment is set and edit the
- config file. An example config file is included but all lines
- ****MUST*** be filled in..
-
- EG:
- Peter May
- CUFFS BBS
- 00000
- T:\logfiles\ra2sx.log
- Y
- C6
- C8
-
- Line 1] Name as in Remote Access ****EXACTLY AS IN RA*****
- Line 2] System name as in Remote Access *****EXACTLY AS IN RA*******
- Line 3] Registration number or 00000 if not registered
- Line 4] Full Path and file name to log file ****MUST HAVE A file
- name even if not registered.
- LINE 5] Y or N Y for alter security levels and N for don't alter
- security levels.
- LINE 6] The flag in Remote Access to turn on if the user has AUTO
- START on in Silver Xpress. If not required use * . Must
- be a valid Flag as in A1...A2...D8 etc or *
- LINE 7] The flag in Remote Access to turn on if the user has
- VACATION SAVER on in Silver Xpress. If not required
- use * . Must be a valid Flag as in A1...A2...D8 etc or *
-
-
- >>>>>>>>>>>>NOTE infact a BIG NOTE<<<<<<<
-
- Lines 5 6 & 7 must have a vaild Y/N for line 5 and A1 to C8 for 6
- and 7 followed by an return an no spaces.
-
- I am in the middle of doing a config util to stop any problems.....
-
- Failure to follow the above will most likely cause a run time error.
-
-
- Thats it. Run RA2SX.EXE By itself. Have no other program running
- at the same time that uses XPUSER.DAT or USERS.BBS as this program
- can be called to write to both these files.. If the program is
- registered it will create a backup of XPUSER.DAT by the name of
- DATE.PRE as in 3-12-95.PRE. This file will only be written once a
- day. That is if the file already exists when the program is run
- then no further backup will be created for that day/date.
-
- Some error levels are retuned by the program if a fault exists.
-
- They are:
-
- (1) Wrong Name or System name in RA2SX.CFG
- Spelling and capital letters must be the same
- (2) Can't locate XPUSER.DAT Exe file and CFG file must be in
- Silver Xpress directory
- (3) Can't Locate Users.Bbs. Usually means that RA's
- enviroment is not set correctly.
- (4) The line containing the FLAG or * for the AUTO START
- setting in the config file is not correct.
- (5) The line containing the FLAG or * for the VACATION SAVER
- setting in the config file is not correct.
- (6) NO RA2SX.CFG file..... Say no more.
- (7) Could not find CONFIG.RA. See error 3
- (8) Can't Create NO-USER.LST. Usually because of a lack of
- disk space.
- (9) The line with the Y or N as in LINE 5 in RA2SX.CFG is
- incorrect
-
- I offer no really cool graphics etc as this program will mostly be
- run in batch files for nightly maintenance so whats the point and
- also I am hopeless at them.
- If unregisterd it will pause long enough to read the screen and
- therefore it will take longer to run. Why? Because it will still
- write errors to the screen instead of a log file but you need to be
- able to see them. HEY!!!!!
-
-
- *****************************************************************************
-
-
- WHAT ELSE
-
-
- Nothing really. I use it. My mates use it so why not you. To
- register it send me a post card of you town/city. I need to know
- your name and your BBS's name exactly as in RA. If it is spelt with
- capitals then I need to know. One letter out of place and it will
- pull up in a screaming heap. My system is CUFFS BBS if I put CuFFS
- BBS then no go. Pretty basic isn't it???? It has to be for me to
- understand. I will return you a 20 letter/number combination to put
- in the config file and you are away... You can either pick it up on
- my system by polling me on
