- RemoteAccess 2.02 enhancements
- ------------------------------
-
- ** Update language prompts 662, 663, 664.
-
- * Added support for all new connect speeds up to 64,000 BPS.
-
- * Added support for the RAUUCP internet gating software.
- RAUUCP is a third-party product which is an import/export
- gateway between RFC822/RFC1036 messages and the JAM
- message-base. It will also optionally call an internet
- UUCP host to collect and send mail bundles.
-
- Message area types now include Internet (email) and
- Newsgroup. NOTE: At least one internet email area must
- be defined in order to be able to post private email
- replies to newsgroup messages. Newsgroup areas are not
- checked in a mailbox scan.
-
- * Added a new field to the message area configuration screen.
- NetReply indicates in which area netmail replies are to be
- posted. If set to zero, the first available netmail area
- will be used.
-
- * Placing a *X on the optional data field of a type 7 menu
- command will cause the file TAGLIST.RA to be written in
- the same directory as EXITINFO.BBS. TAGLIST.RA contains
- a list of all files currently in the users tag list. The
- file has the following format:
-
- tagfilerecord = record
- name : string[12];
- password : string[15];
- attrib : byte;
- areanum,
- recordnum : word;
- size : longint;
- filedate : longint; {for uploads only}
- cost : longint;
- cdrom : boolean;
- foundfirst : boolean; {both of these fields}
- xfertime : word; {are for internal use only}
- end;
-
- This file is re-read upon return from the type 7, and
- the information in it is used to replace the old tag list.
- More than 100 entries will be ignored. NOTE! No validity
- checking is performed on the list. It is the external
- program's responsibility to check access authorisation
- and to fill in all listed fields correctly.
-
- * Optimized the JAM mailbox scanning code. This should
- result in a *significant* speed increase while checking
- for new mail at logon.
-
- * Added a field for RIP to the "terminal" setting when editing
- menu options. This allows the sysop to restrict access to
- menu options based on whether the user has RIP enabled.
-
- * A *Y on the command-line of a type 7 menu command will be
- translated into the users handle. Any spaces in the users
- handle are automatically translated into underscores.
-
- * A *Z on the command-line of a type 7 menu command will cause
- RA to indicate RIP capability in the DOOR.SYS file. Note
- that many doors still do not support this flag yet.
-
- * Reorganised the modem connect string recognition order. It
- should no longer be necessary to put a '|' at the end of the
- 300, 1200 and 2400 connect strings.
-
- * Placing a *Q on a type 7 command-line will pass the locked
- speed of the modem as defined in RACONFIG.Modem.Options.Lock,
- provided that the LOCK option is enabled. If the LOCK option
- is not enabled, the actual connect speed will be passed (the
- same as a *B).
-
-
- Fixes
- -----
-
- * Fixed the incompatibility problems with DESQview 2.62+.
-
- * RA now correctly indicates RIP capability via the DOOR.SYS
- file.
-
- * Subscription expiry is now handled before the new mail
- and files check at logon.
-
- * The "view archive" and "view textfile" functions now correctly
- honour the CDROM device locking system.
-
- * Fixed the FSC-0035 support. RA was truncating the destination
- address at the first '@' character.
-
- * Disabled the "more" prompt during upload scanning.
-
- * If a file was moved during a RAFILE CLEAN operation, the
- original DOS filedate was not preserved. This has been fixed.
-
- * If a type 7 menu command contained multiple occurrences
- of the same *Macro character, only the first one would be
- translated. This has been fixed.
-
- * RAMGR will no longer allow a copy to buffer operation on
- the last, blank entry in a file list.
-
- * Attempting to hurl a locked file with RAMGR would result
- in the file simply being deleted. This has been fixed.
-
- * Completely rewrote the code which controls the timing of
- checking for inter-node message semaphores. This should
- result in a significant speed improvement.
-
- * Previously it was not possible to perform a RAFILE
- FILELIST operation while a user was online and browsing
- a file area. This has been fixed.
-
- * RA would always display the MGAxxxxx.A??, FLAxxxxx.A??
- and ONCEONLY.A?? textfiles from the default language
- textfile directory, regardless of which language was
- actually selected. This has been fixed.
-
- * RA would not correctly update the "reason for page" status
- line after a type 7. This has been fixed.
-
- * The ^FN control code now correctly displays the users
- lastread pointer for the current JAM message area.
-
- * It was possible to generate a runtime error by holding down
- ALT-C on a high repeat speed while a user was on-line.
- This has been fixed.
-
- * The "DateCreated" field is now correctly set when a new
- JAM area is created.
-
- * If an empty area list file was specified for an RAFILE
- operation with the '@' character on the command-line,
- RAFILE would process EVERY area. This has been fixed.
-
- * Strict password checking now prevents a user from using
- his/her handle as a password.
-
- * When notifying an online user of a new message posted to
- him/her, RA will now use the name that the sender actually
- used to post the message with, rather than always using
- the sender's real name.
-
- * Marking JAM messages as received at the mailbox scan prompt
- did not work. This has been fixed.
-
- * Hitting Enter in RAMGR at the "Import file to buffer" prompt
- would produce unpredictable results. This has been fixed.
-
- * Users are no longer allowed to send CCs when entering a
- message to the sysop after a password failure.
-
- * Fixed a small bug in the menu editor when simulating the
- menu with Alt-D.
-
- * RAFILE FILELIST with the /D parameter would not work
- correctly over a new year boundary. This has been fixed.
-
- * Previously, RA could not handle a user sending an online
- message to a user who was already viewing another online
- message at the same time. This has been fixed.
-
- * RA was randomly stripping the "DateRecvd" field from
- JAM messages while reading them. Fixed.
-
- * JAM lastread pointers were being initialised incorrectly.
- This has been fixed.
-
- * Modifying a JAM message could cause an "Invalid JAM
- signature" from RAMSG. This has been fixed.
-
- * Specifying an import filename for a RAFILE IMPORT operation
- with the @AREALIST option did not work. Fixed.
-
- * Fixed some low-level JAM-handling code which was causing
- lastread pointers to get trashed.
-
-
-
- RAMSG changes
- -------------
-
- * The JAM reply chain linking is now approximately twice
- as fast.
-
- * The -NoLrdPack switch has been changed to -PackJlr. The
- default behaviour is now not to remove JLR entries which
- don't have a corresponding USERS.BBS record. Instead,
- Pack will now remove a JLR entry if both the HighestRead
- and LastRead are lower than the lowest existing message
- number in that area.
-
- * While renumbering a JAM area, RAMSG now updates the High
- Water Mark, which is used by some echomail processors.
-
-
- Fixes
- -----
-
- * Fixed bug that RAMSG could hang while linking a JAM area,
- if the first message in an area was a reply to another
- message, but not the only reply.
-
- * Fixed bug that packing of JAM bases was not done correctly
- if an area contained more than 9215 active (non-deleted)
- messages.
-
- * Due to a bug, the buffering for packing .JDT files never
- became active while packing JAM bases. JAM packing is
- much faster now.
-
- * If the -Delete switch was used with Pack -Link, RAMSG
- would remove reply chains in JAM areas instead of
- rebuilding them.
-
- * JAM messages which point to an invalid text area will now
- be ignored while packing or creating index files.
