  1. POWERBBS FOR WINDOWS INSTALLATION
  2.  
  3. To install from a hard disk:
  4.  
  5. 1. Create a temporary directory (C:\TEMP)
  6. 2. Unzip both archives (ZIPs) into this temporary directory
  7. 3. Run set up
  8.    a. From Program Manager select File, Run and type C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE
  9.    b. Click OK

  12. To install from floppies
  13.  
  14. 1. Put disk 1 into your disk drive
  15. 2. Select File, Run from Program Manager
  16. 3. Type A:\SETUP.EXE or B:\SETUP.EXE
  17. 4. Click OK

  20. You will see a screen with two options for install: Full or Upgrade.
  21.  
  22. UPGRADES: If you are installing PowerBBS over ANY other version
  23. of PowerBBS, then use the Upgrade Option. PowerBBS will only 
  24. overwrite those program (EXE, DLL) files that need to be replaced. 
  25. Your existing screens, forums, file lists, etc. will not be touched.
  26. Upgrading is totally safe. However, do NOT pick FULL INSTALL if 
  27. you have already installed a prior version of PowerBBS.

  29. IF YOU ARE ALREADY RUNNING POWERBBS, SHUT IT DOWN AND REBOOT YOUR PC!
  30. POWERBBS CANNOT BE RUNNING WHEN YOU RUN SETUP.EXE!!!

  32. FULL INSTALL: If you are installing PowerBBS for the first time,
  33. select Full Install, which is checked by default. This will install 
  34. PowerBBS and all of its related screens, files, etc.

  36. On this first screen, the install program displays the drive and path
  37. FROM which you are installing PowerBBS. If this information is correct,
  38. click OK. If for some reason it is not, enter the correct information 
  39. (A:\, C:\TEMP, etc.) and click OK.

  41. Next, you are asked the hard drive on which PowerBBS is to be installed.
  42. Enter your hard drive letter (C:\, D:\, etc) in this text box and 
  43. click OK (PowerBBS will create all the directories it needs).

  45. Let the installation run. When it is complete, you will have a
  46. program group called PowerBBS. First, read the NOTES file. 
  47.  
  48. Then, have fun!
