- How many times did you check who is online, and saw an old
- friend and wanted to have a little talk with him, but remembered
- the last time you had a chat thru the BBS...
-
- Everybody who ever wanted to have a chat, a true real-time chat
- (and not via Electronic Mail) knows how disappointing this can
- be. Several people break into each other's writings, confusing
- letters everywhere, problems with the software, etc... This is
- where ~EMultiChat~F comes in.
-
- ~EMultiChat~F satisfies both those who liked the old-fashion chat
- utilities, and those who didn't. It allows several users have a
- chat, each in his own ~Bchat window~F. In that way, several people
- can type together, and the result is easier to read. On the other
- hand, it is possible to switch into regular chat mode, where all
- participants share the same area of the screen. Either way,
- ~EMultiChat~F helps you get a cleaner and easier chat, without any
- confusion.
-
- Wherever you are, in ~EMultiChat~F, a list of all available function
- keys is accessible using the ~DCtrl-I~F key. Following are some of
- the useful keys:
-
- ~DCtrl-O~F - Shows you a list of all users currently using the BBS,
- on all lines. Once you have found somebody who is not busy doing
- anything special (~EMultiChat~F displays the status of every user),
- you may call him for a chat. This is done using the ~DCtrl-P~F key
- (Send ONLINE message). If the user accepts your invitation, and
- joins ~EMultiChat~F, the appropriate message displays on the screen.
-
- If your window becomes too messy (have you wrote too much?), you
- can clear it using ~DCtrl-L~F. Also, if you have mistakenly cleared
- the whole screen, or got your screen corrupted due to a line
- noise, you may instruct ~EMultiChat~F to redraw the screen by typing
- ~DCtrl-R~F. (These two keys are only available in ~BWINDOWS mode~F, of
- course).
-
- Once in a while, you may want to check your time limit. Press
- ~DCtrl-T~F, and ~EMultiChat~F will display the exact number of minutes
- remaining for this chat.
-
- ~CNOTE:~F The ~BUnregistered Evaluation Version~F, which is distributed
- freely limits your chat for ~A10~F minutes. After ~A10~F minutes, it
- returns back to the BBS. If you wish to continue your chat, you
- will have to re-enter ~EMultiChat~F. This "feature" is there becuase
- the Unregistered version is distributed for a trial period only,
- and should be registered, in order to be used for good.
-
- If you wish, you may switch to a different chat mode, rather than
- Windows. You may choose one of two other modes. The first, is the
- regular old-fashion one, which is used on most other chat doors
- (~BPlain Mode~F). The other, is unique for ~EMultiChat~F, which involves
- both dynamic windows (dynamic size and location). This mode is
- called ~BDynamic Mode~F, and is very effective when there are many
- participants in the chat.
-
- In order to switch into ~BPlain mode~F, press ~DCtrl-N~F. In order to
- switch into ~BDynamic mode~F, press ~DCtrl-Y~F, and in order to switch
- into ~BWindows mode~F, press ~DCtrl-D~F.
-
- In regular or dynamic mode, the ~DCtrl-L~F key (~BClear window in~F
- ~Bwindows mode~F) is used as a toggle for ~BPolite Mode~F. When this mode
- is activated, ~EMultiChat~F prevents you from breaking into other
- user's words while he is writing, and will allow you to type
- something ONLY when nobody else is in the middle of writing.
- ~CNOTE:~F ~BPolite Mode~F prevents you from bothering the conversation by
- breaking into other participants' words. However, you may still
- use all other ~EMultiChat~F features, including disabling ~BPolite Mode~F
- (unless the Sysop has forced ~BPolite Mode~F, and set it up as
- unchangeable).
-
- Some tips when using ~EMultiChat~F:
-
- ~A1)~F If you wish to share your happiness, or would like to show
- you're laughing (any good joke?), you may use the ~DCtrl-E~F
- (~BSmile~F) or ~DCtrl-F~F (~BLaugh~F). All users will get a msg about your
- laugh or smile.
-
- ~A2)~F While chatting, you are able to "~Bwhisper~F" something to any
- other participant's ear. When more than ~A2~F are chatting
- together, everybody can see what anybody else types. In
- ~Bwhisper mode~F, you may type something privately to one another.
- This is useful if you're trying to secretly tell something to
- a specific participant.
- By pressing ~DCtrl-W~F, you get into whisper mode. You will be
- asked who do you wish to ~Bwhisper~F to, and then, every letter
- you type will be sent directly to him, and not to any other
- person. In a similar way, ~EMultiChat~F would inform you about
- anybody who is whispering to you.
- ~CNOTE:~F If somebody is whispering you, your answer still goes to
- all participants. Remember to get into ~BWhisper mode~F if this is
- required (and terminate it, as well).
-
- ~C* Remember: ~DCtrl-I~F, anywhere in the program, pops a short ~BHELP~F
- screen, while ~DESC~F gets you back to the BBS.
