  2.     MacKermit 0.9(40) from Columbia University's Kermit Distribution Center
  3. is the very first program on Macintosh that features Kermit file transfer
  4. protocol.  It is written in MPW C.
  5.  
  6.     Kermit was designed to transfer files between ALL kinds of systems.  It
  7. can be used on every system that support standard ASCII codes.    It is not so
  8. efficient compared with other protocols such as ZModem, YModem, or even XModem.
  9.  
  10.     MacKermit 0.9(40) is not very good at user interface compared to other
  11. Macintosh applications.  However, it does offer Mac users an alternative to
  12. connect to many mainframes, especially those odd 7-bit machines.
