- DR ANSI HISTORY OF CHANGES
-
-
- Version 1.2 (version adding slide-show, screen clearing, help,
- ─────────── download capability, Qmodem fix, and more)
-
- ■ Added local display of how sysop can get out of chat mode when
- chat mode is selected.
-
- ■ Changed the "Returning you to BBS_name ..." message to
- "Returning to BBS ..." since some BBS user drop files don't
- contain the BBS name information.
-
- ■ Changed the "already-seen" filter so it now remembers what ANSI
- screens have been viewed when changing to different categories.
-
- ■ (Suggestion by Jack Helser)
- Added multiple screen selection. Screens can now be viewed in a
- 'slide show' manner by separating screen numbers with a space,
- comma, or semi-colon.
-
- A 'through' capability will permit a person to view screens X
- through Y by separating screen numbers with a dash (minus).
- Example slide-show selection: 1 5 10 20-30 40
-
- The ESC key can be used to escape out of a slide-show. The slide-
- show will return to the screen selection menu after the present
- screen has drawn.
-
- ■ Added more instances of CPU time slice sharing when in DESQview.
- The additional instances are the keyboard prompting after title
- screen, after ANSI screen drawing, sysop chat, and when the
- category or ANSI screen menus have been paused.
-
- ■ Forced screen clearing prior to viewing each ANSI since there are
- some ANSI authors who don't have them built-in.
-
- ■ Added screen clear to 'Screen not found.' message since this may
- appear in a multiple selection.
-
- ■ Added display of the user input to the 'Screen not found.' message
- since multiple screen selection is available.
-
- ■ Added a [H]elp selection to the category and ANSI selection
- screens. The help is in the form of a standard text file (not
- ANSI) to ensure that DR ANSI will have full control of line count,
- screen clear, and screen redraw, and 'More?' prompting, in the
- event of a sysop chat, shell to DOS, etc.
-
- Color code capability was added to the help file so the sysop can
- customize with colors if desired (see DR ANSI documentation).
-
- ■ Changed '(Timeleft: X)' prompt to '(TL=X)' in the category and
- screens menus. This change allowed for the [H]elp selection to fit
- into the prompt better.
-
- ■ Eliminated need for DR ANSI to create a temporary user drop file
- when run with a Local argument.
-
- ■ (Suggestion by Andy Nachbaur)
- Added download capability.
- ■ Added optional configuration variables for DSZ/GSZ and download
- capability. If download capability is turned on, and the DSZ
- config. variable is not defined, then DR ANSI will search the
- BBS system's path to find DSZ/GSZ.
- ■ DSZ/GSZ support.
- ■ DSZ.COM, DSZ.EXE, or GSZ.EXE.
- ■ Xmodem, Ymodem, and Zmodem support.
- ■ DR ANSI uses return errorlevels to distinguish between
- successful and unsuccessful transfers.
- ■ "Already-downloaded" filter shows user what ANSIs have already
- been downloaded.
- ■ Complete file info given (file size, estimated transfer time,
- etc.)
-
- ■ Changed "[Q]uit to BBS" to "[Q]uit" to support added prompt length
- because of download capability.
-
- ■ Changed DR ANSI to fix a problem when using high transfer rates and
- slow CPUs (e.g. heavy multi-tasking). With these conditions, and
- on some ANSI screens, the user would immediately be returned to the
- ANSI selection screen without pressing return to quit viewing an
- ANSI screen.
-
- ■ Fixed a bug in the "ANSI size/baud rate" filter where it would
- not work at all.
-
- ■ Changed "Returning to BBS ..." so it doesn't display when running
- with Local argument. This also eliminates the one second pause.
-
- ■ Changed menu prompt keys to parenthesis rather than square
- brackets. Looks better.
-
- ■ Added change to DOS prompt when shelled to DOS so that it is a
- reminder that DR ANSI is shelled to DOS. The new prompt inserts
- "[DRANSI] " before the old prompt if there is sufficient
- environment space memory in the process.
-
- ■ Added optional "[Enter]" prompt to be displayed at the end of each
- ANSI screen. Default is ON.
-
- ■ Changed the prompt at the end of each ANSI screen to accept either
- the Enter or Space key to continue, and ESC to abort a slide-show.
-
- ■ Revised sample DRANSI.CFG file included with original archive so
- it contains info about added features in this version. Also
- changed the default values specified for the baud rate/ANSI size
- filter in case people are using the sample given.
-
- ■ Removed 'Sysop Next' key (Alt-N).
