  5.                                 What's New?

  7.    Online INSTAbank version 5.0 was released for two reasons.  First,
  8.    it was released to allow sysops upgrading to RemoteAccess 2.00.g1
  9.    to be able to use the timebank.  Until now it only supported RA 1.11.
  10.    The second reason for releasing a new version was to add a few features
  11.    that were requested by users of the bank.

  20.         Version 5.0 requires that you convert the data files from
  21.         previous versions!  SEE DOCUMENTATION FOR DETAILS!

  27.    The following features were added:
  28.  
  29.        - Those annoying double characters that would appear on the local
  30.          screen when a user selected an option have been eliminated.
  31.        - A status bar was added, showing the user's name, time left, and
  32.          KBytes left.  The sysop may break in to chat, hangup on the user,
  33.          adjust time, and adjust KBytes.

  36.          NOTICE:  Chat mode will only work when the user is at the
  37.                   main menu.  Sorry, but there were too many problems
  38.                   with allowing chat mode anywhere in the program...

  41.        - The up and down cursor keys will add and remove time respectively.
  42.          The PageUp and PageDown keys will add and remove KBytes, 10 KB at
  43.          a time.
  44.        - user defined entry and exit screens are now supported.  These are
  45.          START.ANS/.ASC  and  END.ANS/.ASC.  If they are found in the bank
  46.          directory, they will be displayed.
  47.        - the DEPMAINT program (local maintenance) was enhanced.
  48.        - the menu was redone to align all the options.  This just makes it
  49.          look a little nicer.
  50.        - Added support for THEBANK.EXT, which is used by some games and other
  51.          external programs to update time banks. (use EXT_UTIL.EXE)
  52.        - when a user's account is created, he or she will be asked if he/she
  53.          wishes to participate in bank robberies.  If the user says "yes" then
  54.          the user will be able to rob people, but the user will also be
  55.          a valid target for robbers.  If the user says "no" then the user
  56.          will NOT be allowed to rob people or the bank, but they will not
  57.          be vulnerable to robberies.

  60.    Many thanks to all of you who made suggestions.  I could not implement
  61.    all of them, due mainly to time constraints, but I will still be adding
  62.    new features in the future, so you never know.

  64.    I would have liked to add a few more options and rewrite some of the code
  65.    to improve performance, but I was pressed for time.  Many sysops had
  66.    upgraded to RA 2.00.g1, and I was in a hurry to get a working bank out
  67.    for them!  Sorry for the wait people!

  69.    Again, many thanks for supporting Online INSTAbank!  It may not have
  70.    all the features of RATS, but I think it does everything (and more)
  71.    that a time and byte bank really needs... and the price is right!
