-
- ArcBrain is an archive viewer/downloader program. It will supplement
- any BBS that does not offer full archive features, such as Remote Access.
-
- Arcbrain let's you:
-
- 1) View archive contents
- 2) Read a text file from within an archive
- 3) Download any file from within an archive (using DSZ)
- 4) Download the entire archive file (using DSZ)
-
- This program requires installation using The Brainex Door Manager.
- If you have not installed this program, please download BRAINEX.ZIP
- from the The Brainex System, then install the program.
-
- This program requires PKUNZIP, ARJ, DSZ, etc. in your DOS path.
-
- Be sure you have the file BRAINEX.DAT dated after 2/2/94 in your
- BRAINEX directory. To install this door type:
-
- SETUP
-
- ARCBRAIN.EXE will be copied to the BRAINEX directory.
-
- A BRAINEX\ARCBRAIN directory will be created for the storage of data
- files and the ARCBRAIN.DOC file.
-
- During the setup, you will be prompted for the following information:
-
- Please enter your ArcBrain Registration number, or 0 if unregistered.
- * Enter your registration number here.
-
- Enter the PATH\FILENAME of the ASCII list of all download directories.
- You will need to create this file.
- * This is the ASCII list of file directories. If your files are stored
- in D:\DOWNLOAD, D:\UPLOAD, then this file would look like:
-
- D:\DOWNLOAD
- D:\UPLOAD
-
- Each line has the directory name. Place this file in your BRAINEX
- directory so it will be easy to find.
-
- Enter the DRIVE\DIRECTORY for a temporary work directory.
- * Usually C:\TEMP. You will need to create this directory.
-
- Would you like to allow callers to log off the BBS after downloads?
- * After a download, users can disconnect from the BBS.
-
-
- To start ArcBrain, use the following command line format:
-
- ARCBRAIN NODE=x
-
- Where x is the actual node number. Single node systems do not need
- the NODE= command.
-
- For Remote Access use menu type 7.
- Optional data: C:\BRAINEX\FBRAIN.EXE NODE=*N *M
-
- ===================================================
-
- The following sysop functions are available while awaiting
- keyboard input :
-
- F5 - Shell to DOS.
- F8 - Twit user and return to BBS.
- F10 - Initiate chat with user.
- CF10 - Answer user MANUAL bell.
- Home - Main user stats.
- End - Displays sysop keys available.
- PgDn - Secondary user stats.
- Up Arrow - Increase user's time remaining by 5 minutes.
- Dn Arrow - Decrease user's time remaining by 5 minutes.
-
- One of the nicer features about using the TWIT key, is the user
- is not told that "the sysop wants them to return to the BBS".
- Instead, a very plain and simple message of "returning you to the
- BBS" is displayed. This way, the user is given no indication
- that the sysop is hovering about.
-
- When using the F5 shell to DOS key, to return to the door
- program, simply type EXIT at the DOS command prompt. It is not
- necessary to change directories back to the door directory.
- Manual is smart enough to know which drive and directory the
- door program is in and will reset the defaults upon return from
- DOS.
-
- The Up and Down Arrow keys increase and decrease the user's time
- respectively by 5 minutes for each press of the key. There is no
- indication of what is occurring (except by the fact the user's
- time remaining will change), so the sysop should try not to have
- a lead finger. The increase or decrease is effective only while
- the user is in Manual.
-
- This version of ARCBRAIN is a DEMO. Once registered, DEMO MODE
- notice will not displayed when exiting the door.
-
- Have Fun!
