[goto next] [/alfkill] [yellow]KILL FILE [grey] This command is an enhanced Maximus Kill command which supports Wildcards and gives you three options when killing files and FILES.BBS entries: Kill both file and entry Kill file but keep entry Kill entry but keep file. [goto next] [/alfHURL] [yellow]HURL FILES(S) [grey] This command is an enhanced Maximus Hurl command which gives you the option of using the file selector, and Wildcards, to hurl files from the current file area, directory or drive. See the Maximus file menu ?help for more information on Hurl. [goto next] [/2X] [yellow]2xHURL *GO [grey] This command combines an optional immediate hurl, with a second hurl DAYS LATER, of a file in the current area. *GO shows up on your menu when files have waited `n days' and are ready for a second hurl. Hit `*` to hurl them. Example: Hurl from Unchecked Uploads area to New uploads area, wait 30 days, then hurl to General Utilities area. [goto next] [/fb] [yellow]-FB AREA -ALL [grey] This command runs the File Database Build Utility on the current area. Hitting `-` twice runs FB on all file areas in the area.dat file. [goto next] [/Movedesc] [yellow]MOVE ENTRY [grey] This command will move a file description from the current file area to another file area. [goto next] [/X] [yellow]XTERNAL PROGRAM [grey] Links ALFXTRN.BBS to invoke the program(s) of your choice. Edit ALFXTRN.MEC to suit and MECCA the file. [goto next] [/I] [yellow]IMPORT FILE [grey] Imports can be COPIED or HURLED INTO the current file area. If you elect to process the file, ALFCESS.BAT will run. If no description exists, you'll be prompted for one. If a description existed, or was entered, then ALFPOST.BAT will run. Edit both files to suit. [goto next] [/S] [yellow]SOURCE DIR [grey] This command selects a default directory from which to import files. When importing more than one file from a directory, make it the default source directory and save entering the PATH for each file. [goto next] [/D] [yellow]DOS AREA SHELL [grey] This command shells you to the current file area, directory or drive. [goto next] [/E] [yellow]EDIT FILES.BBS [grey] This command invokes your text editor and loads the FILES.BBS from the current directory. NOTE: To change text editors delete ALF.EDR, run the Edit file.bbs command, and install a new editor when prompted. [goto next] [/B] [yellow]BACKUP FILE [grey] This commmand copies a file to the drive of your choice. Copying the file description is optional. [goto next] [/P] [yellow]PROCESS FILE [grey] This command runs ALFCESS.BAT on the file you select. If no file description exists, you will be prompted for one, after which ALFPOST.BAT will run. Read these files for more information, and edit them to suit your needs. [goto next] [/DIR] [yellow]LIST DIR [grey] This command allows you to list any directory on your system. If you have a default source directory selected, ALF will offer that first. [goto next] [/ALL] [yellow]!ACQUIRE ALL [grey] This command copies or moves all files, and FILES.BBS entries, in the source directory to the current directory. [goto next] [/SORT] [yellow]=SORT AREA =ALL [grey] This command runs ALFSORT.BAT, which uses QSORT.EXE to sort FILES.BBS in the current file area or directory. Hitting `=` twice will sort the FILES.BBS in ALL file areas. ALFSORT.BAT can be setup to save headers and replace them once sorting is done. You can also "lock" any areas to prevent sorting. Sorting is disabled if other tasks are found active. [goto next] [/NAMES] [yellow]WAYWARD FILES[grey] This command checks a raw directory list against file names in FILES.BBS and gives you the option of adding missing files to FILES.BBS.
