- ~fHOW TO READ THE PLAYING AREA

- ~e THE MAP
-
- ~2The map of the land is located at the upper left corner of the screen
- and occupies most of the viewing area. The meaning of many items is
- already revealed to you (local merchants and institutions display their adds
- rather blatantly to attract customers) still, there are many more
- items for you to interact with that are not know to you. ~fMOST~2 of these
- items are beneficial to your survival. One of them; however, is not. As
- soon as you find this one item, make sure you stay clear from it. Namely,
- this item is an electrified wall. You will loose 3 Hit Points everytime you
- touch it. Other than that, explore everything in sight. And when you get
- to the Southern Continent, explore even those things that are already obvious
- to you... there is a secret passage to a hidden country.

- ~e YOUR ATTRIBUTES
-
- ~2Located in the upper right area of the screen, are your attributes.
- This information is vital to your survival and you must learn to read
- it. They have been color-grouped for your convinience.
- - First, you see your name or ALIAS if you chose one
- - The first color-group, gives you information about your level,
- money, and experience points. Experience points are needed to
- increase in level, which is rewarded by a chance to add weights to your
- trainning equipment at the gym, so you can increase your ~fattributes~2
- There is a total of 25 levels available to registered versions of the game,
- unregistered versions, are limited to level 5.
- The last item in this color group is money. Money is of paramount
- importance in the game. Everytime you die, the healers will recover your
- body and charge a fee, depending on your level, if you don't have enough
- money on hand, they will go to the bank and charge you extra for going
- there and on top of that, they won't heal you fully.
- Keep money on hand at all time, for if you die and are broke, the healers
- will partially heal you and take a Hit Point away from you!!
- - The second color-group, display your 'vital' attributes and it looks
- like this:

- ~a YOUR AGE: 56 ~2[NEVER let it reach 99! You'll have to start again]
- ~a STRENGTH: 18/18 ~2[Used for calculating damage]
- ~a DEXTERITY: 24/24 ~2[Determines your hit/miss ratio in battle]
- ~a MANA: 25/24 ~2[Amount of spell points. Rogues and Wizards only]
- ~a HIT POINTS: 32/32 ~2[Keep this one up! When it reaches ZERO, you die]

- ~2Mana points are regenerated with time or using a healing potion.
- Also, if you see many 'What a feeble shot, you missed' messages, your
- dexterity is too low and you should correct this situation as soon as
- possible. With lots of strength, you will do lots of damage even if you
- fought with your bare hands.
- - Then, you find the message ~4HPotion=~fYES~2 or ~4HPotion=~fNOT~2, and
- ~9SCROLLS=03~2. Healing potions are found at alchemist's temples -for a
- price- or can be found (about 10% of the time) in the bodies of your dead
- foes.
- - Lastly, you see your current weapon, armor, shield, gloves, and boots.
- You need need not worry about their attack/defense values, when you find
- a better item than your current one, it will be transfered to you
- automatically. The only time when you will have to make decisions is when
- you find boots or gloves. Their attributes are unknown to you, but can
- be easily known, for a fee, by visiting the ~fMYSTIC~2 located inmediately
- NORTH of the main city or at other locations troughout the land.
- - The last part of this section is not an actual attribute, but could
- be considered one: is the time you have left on the game.

- ~e THE MESSAGE AREA
-
- ~2All the interaction of the game is displayed here. Watch this area
- carefully, for a lot of messages will be displayed once only and there
- is almost always lots of usefull information in them.

- ~f WHILE EXPLORING

- ~2Moving around the game is accomplished with the numeric-key pad located
- at the right of your keyboard. Make sure the NUM LOCK key is on.
- To interact with the world, move towards the person or item you want to
- interact with and things will happen, depending on the item you are
- touching. Watch the message area for important information.
- Understanding the messages is a key to sucessfully playing this game.

- Many things or people in the game have more than one thing to say, so
- it pays to re-visit some of them. As long as your path is not
- obstructed by a wall, you can move in any direction you wish. Walls
- are represented by the solid block ~f'█'~2 everything else has a different
- meaning which you have to find out. Do not be afraid of exploring.

- ~e WHILE IN BATTLE
-
- ~2As you explore the countries of the land, sometimes you will be
- attacked by the many evil agents of Khalal to prevent you from ever reching
- the evil one. Move as you normally do in the map areas and escape as many
- fights as you can. The arena doors are represented by a hyphen '-'
- Sometimes, your foes will be one up on you and there will be no escape from
- them, you must then battle to the death. To attack, just move toward your
- enemy and you will yield your current weapon. Magic casters can cast spells
- depending on the spells you have learned by pressing the '~fC~2' key.
- If you have scrolls [~aAvailable only in registered versions~2] you can use
- them by pressing the '~fS~2' key.
