  5.          ■   This is an interim release of 1stReader that provides
  6.              support for the new Sparkware DEALER system.

  8.          ■   Incorporated a new SuperShell routine that is much more
  9.              friendly with Windows.

  15.          ■   1stReader 1.10 would not recognize a DeLuxe² DELUXE2.KEY
  16.              file preventing our 15,000+ registered DeLuxe owners from
  17.              registering 1stReader electronically for only $5.00.
  18.              Fixed.

  20.          ■   If you tried to use the telecommunication section without
  21.              turning on your modem then 1stReader would hang - waiting
  22.              for the modem to return an "OK".  Now the reader will not
  23.              attempt to transmit data if your modem isn't turned ON.

  25.          ■   If you had turned on the "4DOS" switch then 1stReader
  26.              would not translate @variables inside .BTM files.  Fixed.
  27.  
  28.          ■   If you replied to a FIDO-sourced message 1stReader would
  29.              not leave a 100% compliant FIDO tagline.  Fixed.
  30.  
  31.          ■   Go into the tagline management section and press SHIFT+I
  32.              to insert a new tagline.  The system would hang requiring
  33.              a reset.  Fixed.

  35.          ■   Added a new command line switch "/DAY:".  This switch will
  36.              let you run 1stReader on certain days of the week (1=Sun,
  37.              2=Mon, etc).  For example, the command "1ST /DAY:135" would
  38.              execute 1stReader on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Great
  39.              for sysops who use 1stReader to make their nightly mail
  40.              runs.

  42.         ■    Fixed various minor bugs in NEWFILES.EXE.  For example, if
  43.              you viewed a new files list from a KMAIL or MARKMAIL door
  44.              then you would see the list of new files twice.  Also, if
  45.              you selected the "HELP" button from the "Manual tags"
  46.              section the help would not be displayed.  Fixed.

  130.              money) in order to use 1stReader (unlike some other mail

  135.              even accents are provided (by pressing ALT+A).  But if you
  136.              don't like our own editor, use your favorite text editor
  137.              with 1stReader.  We support up to 100 external editors at
  138.              one time from within 1stReader!

  140.          ■   Internal file viewers and ANSI file viewers are included.
  141.              The BEST ANSI reader on the market (sez Joe Malacria, Da
  142.              ANSI Phreak).  1stReader features auto-ANSIART detection
  143.              and 43/50 line ANSI art modes.  We even tries to 'sniff
  144.              out' those ANSI messages that do not include the [ANSIART]

  147.          ■   1stReader now supports .GIF and .NAP (NAPLPS) graphics
  148.              formats.  You can view a .GIF or .NAP file from within
  149.              1stReader's file manager by simply selecting the file.

  151.              welcome/news/bulletins files within 1stReader too.

  153.          ■   Sound Blaster support!  1stReader fully supports multimedia
  154.              through a Sound Blaster (or compatible) sound card.  Now
  155.              you can hear voices, music or sound effects.  Sound support
  156.              included for .VOC, .CMF and .MID files.  All of these files
  157.              will play through your sound card (.CMF and .MID files are
  158.              supported through 'AdLib' or compatible cards).

  160.              More than just a gimmick, some bulletin board systems can
  161.              put 1stReader's multimedia (MME) support to very good use.

  163.          ■   Did someone say MIDI?!!!   You bet we did!!!!  1stReader
  164.              also includes a MPU401 MIDI sequencer.  Now, instead of
  165.              hearing tones through your sound card, you can *play* any

  179.          ■   We provide a 'virtual' mouse keyboard for disabled users.
  180.              Either click the LEFT and RIGHT mouse buttons at the SAME
  181.              time or move your mouse cursor to the top left corner of
  182.              your screen and click the LEFT button to access the
  183.              keyboard.  Only our products offer this unique feature.

  185.          ■   1stReader can manage up to 1,000 taglines internally.  And
  186.              as always, we provide seamless support for the master of
  187.              taglines, 'John Hancock' from The Silicon Frog, Inc.

  189.          ■   No offline mail reader supports the Internet like 1stReader
  190.              does.  1stReader can display a single message that is up
  191.              to 32,767 lines long.  And our 'Auto-stitch' feature lets
  192.              1stReader automatically rebuild Internet messages that have
  193.              been 'chopped up' by BBS gateways into smaller messages (a
  194.              feature that works with Merlin Systems' PCB-UUCP for
  195.              PCBoard systems).

  197.              When 1stReader finds an Internet message it automatically
  198.              use the RFC-822 'To', 'From' and 'Subject' fields in the
  199.              message header.  And the reader also provides DOS shell
  200.              command modifiers that make UUDECODE easier.

  202.          ■   1stReader supports PostLink(tm) routing and will
  203.              automatically use a FIDO-compliant tagline if you reply to
  204.              a FIDOnet-sourced message.  1stReader even strips out the
  205.              high ASCII values for you...

  207.          ■   1stReader supports PCBoard 15.0, eSoft TBBS/QSO and
  208.              Wildcat! file attachments.  You can even request that an
  209.              attached file be sent to you the next time you call the
  210.              BBS.  This feature puts 1stReader's internal file
  211.              management system to VERY good use too.

  213.          ■   Zippy scans.  Now you can locate messages that contain
  214.              keywords fast and easy.  You can even read complete threads
  215.              of a discussion when one message was found in the thread
  216.              that contained the keyword!

  218.          ■   You can ignore users with 1stReader (if you wish).  Just
  219.              enter their names once and you'll never see another message
  220.              from them again!

  222.          ■   We're DESQview aware.  And tested under OS/2 and Windows.
  223.              1stReader is extremely mouseable.  Use the Microsoft Mouse
  224.              Driver 8.20 (or higher) to use your mouse in 1stReader
  225.              while running under Windows.

  227.          ■   Online, context-sensitive help is always available by
  228.              pressing the [F1] key.  You can even customize your own
  229.              help screens (if you wish).

  240.         · A scrollback buffer has been added in terminal mode.

  242.         · ALT+"-" and ALT+"+" keys will take you to the previous or
  243.            next UNREAD message in your mail packet.

  245.         · Added support for the LIST.$$$ file in a DOS shell.  If the
  246.            program being shelled to by 1stReader creates a file named
  247.            LIST.$$$, 1stReader will view it after exiting the SHELL.

  249.         · You can use the DOS shell modifier /LIST: <filename> to tell
  250.            1stReader to look for a different filename other than
  251.            LIST.$$$.

  253.         · 1stReader automatically switches into and out of 'Doorway
  254.            mode' (this feature requires Doorway 2.21 (or higher)).

  256.         · 1stReader supports the new internal QWK module found in
  257.            PCBoard 15.0.  We also support PCBoard 15.0's extended
  258.            message headers too.

  260.         · 1stReader is fully TBBS/QSO compatible.  1stReader even
  261.            interprets TBBS' %X color codes.

  263.         · You can now request files for downloading from PCBoard
  264.            systems that use the Qmail or Rosemail door systems.

  266.         · 1stReader can now load EGA/VGA FONT files from startup
  267.             or from the internal file manager.  Just select a
  268.             .FNT file and 1stReader will load the font for you.
