  1. 1stReader's Multimedia feature (MME) lets you play sound files
  2. through your Sound Blaster (or compatible) sound card.  1stReader
  3. can also play MIDI sequences through a MPU401-compatible interface.

  5. If your computer system does not include a sound card or a MIDI
  6. device then you should not install the multimedia files in order
  7. to save hard disk space.  278,207 bytes of free disk space are
  8. required for these files.

  10. If you are running @READER@ under a multitasking system like
  11. Windows or Desqview, we recommend that you do not use the MME
  12. feature.  Using this feature under a multitasker can cause your
  13. system to lock up.

  15. Also, some systems may not be able to handle multimedia files
  16. without 'locking up'.  If you experience 'freezes' with MME
  17. turned on we recommend you disable the switch.  You can start
  18. @READER@ using the command "1ST /SILENT" in order to turn
  19. MME off from the DOS command line.
