-
- OVERVIEW [1]
- ============
-
- [1.1] What is WADED?
- -----------------------
-
- WADED is a graphical map editor for Doom 1, Doom 2, and Heretic.
-
-
- [1.2] Who is the author of WADED?
- ---------------------------
-
- WADED is written by Matthew Ayres.
-
-
- COMMON QUESTIONS [2]
- ====================
-
- [2.1] I keep getting this Z_CheckHeap: block error... whats wrong?
- -----------------------------------------------------------
-
- You haven't defined a sector, or a sector is improperly defined.
- Use the Make Sector feature of WADED to build any sectors that have
- Magenta lines. (Magenta lines indicated that the lines aren't yet
- defined.)
-
- Also make sure no lines are crossing or overlapping each other.
- Make sure your sectors are closed and complete, don't leave them open
- to the outside void around your map.
-
-
- [2.2] WADED is giving me DEBUG codes when I'm working on a level.
- -----------------------------------------------------------
-
- Please report the codes you get from WADED to Matthew Ayres.
- If you have internet access write the codes you got from WADED and
- report them to waded-help@cdrom.com. These codes are needed to tell
- where WADED is failing. Please indicate what you were trying to do
- at the time.
-
-
- [2.3] I can't see any mouse cursor.
- -----------------------------
-
- Hit R to redraw the screen and bring the mouse back. If that
- doesn't work, exit WADED and come back into it. If that still doesn't
- work, your problem applies to the next section...
-
-
- [2.4] My mouse doesn't work.
- ----------------------
-
- Make sure you're using a Microsoft compatible mouse AND mouse driver.
- If you're using MOUSE.COM, try using MOUSE.SYS. If you're already using
- MOUSE.SYS, you might also want to try MOUSE.COM. The author of WADED,
- Matt Ayres, is using Microsoft's MOUSE.SYS, version 8.20a.
-
-
- [2.5] Are there any documentations on WADED?
- --------------------------------------
-
- The latest version of the WADED documentation was included
- in the release of WADED 1.49. Updated documentation is in progress
- by the author of WADED.
-
-
- [2.6] My computer just locked... what happened?
- -----------------------------------------
-
-
- [2.7] Make Sector isn't working... it freezes my computer.
- ----------------------------------------------------
-
- Make Sector doesn't like the sector you are trying to build.
- Make sure that the sector you are trying to build is closed in and
- doesn't have any overlapping lines.
-
-
- [2.8] Is there a way to load my PWAD from the command line?
- -----------------------------------------------------
-
- Yes. WADED can load PWADS from the command line as follows:
- Doom 1: waded mywad.wad
- Doom 2: waded -2 mywad.wad
- Heretic: waded -3 mywad.wad
- waded -h mywad.wad
-
-
- [2.9] I want to save multiple levels in one wad... Can WADED do this?
- ---------------------------------------------------------------
-
- WADED itself cannot save multiple level PWADS. A program
- called WADCAT (also written by Matthew Ayres) can do this for you.
- WADCAT version 0.6 is included with WADED v1.83 beta.
-
-
- [2.10] I can't save maps past MAP03 in Doom II!
- ----------------------------------------
-
- You're most likely using WADED v1.81, upgrade to a later version!
- Version 1.83 was done as of this writting.
-
-
- [2.11] What does the ROOM feature in the Draw menu do?
- -----------------------------------------------
-
- This feature has not been implemented yet. It does nothing...yet :)
-
-
- [2.12] How do I use the Multi commands with lines and sectors?
- -------------------------------------------------------
-
- When you are in Line mode, select the Multi button. Next
- click on all the lines that you would like to change. Once all the
- lines you want affected are highlighted, you can start adding
- attributes. You can select textures, add specials, and give the
- lines special attributes such as "impassable" and "block monster".
- After you have selected all the attributes you want to add click on
- the apply button for the changes to take place. When in Sector mode,
- select the Multi button and select all the sectors that you want to
- affect. Change all the attributes you want, floor texture, ceiling
- texture, lighting, etc. and click the apply button for the changes to
- take place.
-
-
- [2.13] I merged vertexes and WADED added a vertex way off the screen!
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
- This bug was eliminated in WADED v1.83, hopefully ;-)
-
-
- [2.14] Is there a way to delete lines and sectors?
- -------------------------------------------
-
- You can delete lines, sectors, and vertexes from the draw menu.
- Select a button under the "move" option to delete the coresponding
- item. Select the line, vertex, or sector you want to delete and
- click the right mouse button.
-
-
- [2.15] What does the Check command do?
- -------------------------------
-
- The check command has not been implemented yet. Very basic
- low level checking can be done with the 1 and 2 keys. A full scale
- checker will be implemented in a future version of WADED.
-
-
- [2.16] What does the Help command do?
- ------------------------------
-
- Online help has not been added to WADED yet. In future
- versions of WADED help will be able to give you quick refrences to
- what each button does in WADED.
-
-
- [2.17] What does snap to grid do?
- ---------------------------
-
- Snap to grid is a feature for drawing your level. The lower
- the number the closer you can place vertexes together. For instance,
- if the snap to grid was set at 64, you could only place vertexes 64
- pixels apart. If it was at 4, 4 pixels and so on. Use lower numbers
- in precision editing.
-
-
- [2.18] Can WADED view textures from the DOOM.WAD file?
- -----------------------------------------------
-
- Yes. Click the right mouse button on the texture name you
- want to view, or select the texture and click on the V button in the
- lower right list.
-
