  18. This electronic strategy guide to Quake II will show you all of the secrets and winning strategies for Quake 
  19. II.

  24. Minimum System Requirements
  25. Before you install the software, make sure your computer has the following minimum hardware and 
  26. software requirements:
  27.      * Pentium 100 running Windows 95
  28.      * QuickTime for Windows 95
  29.        (available on the Internet at Apple Computer's Web site: www.apple.com/quicktime)
  30.      * Full version of Quake II
  31.      * 32M of system RAM 
  32.      * 8x CD-ROM Drive
  33.      * Super VGA display, capable of 640x480 16 bit color)
  34.      * Windows 95 compatible sound card

  36. Running the Initial Setup Program
  37. Windows 95 Users: When you insert the CD-ROM into your drive, the Autoplay feature will 
  38. automatically start the setup program. If you do not have Autoplay enabled, follow the steps 
  39. below to run the Setup program.
  40. The initial setup program only creates a program group; no files (other than two shortcuts for running the 
  41. program) are copied to your hard drive. Insert the StrategyMaster CD-ROM into your drive and follow 
  42. these steps:

  44. 1. Click on the Start menu and choose Run.
  45.  
  46. 2. Type D:\Setup and press Enter. If your CD-ROM drive is not drive D, substitute the correct 
  47. drive letter. For example, if your CD-ROM drive is actually drive F, type F:\Setup.

  49. 3. The setup program will start and an opening screen will appear. Follow the instructions on 
  50. screen.

  52. 4. A program group named StrategyMaster will be created. After the group has been created, 
  53. you can then run the Quake II StrategyMaster by selecting it from the StrategyMaster 
  54. program group (from the Windows 95 Start Menu).
  55. If you need to uninstall the StrategyMaster at a later time, select "Uninstall Quake II SM" from the 
  56. StrategyMaster program group.

  58. Note:    The StrategyMaster runs entirely off of the CD-. Although this conserves hard drive 
  59. space, accessing the program with CD-ROM drives less than 8x speed will result in slow 
  60. performance. If you have the hard drive space you can copy the entire CD to a local hard 
  61. drive and run it from there. (Copy the entire quakeii directory and all of its 
  62. subdirectories to your hard drive. To run the StrategyMaster, execute Q2SM.EXE from 
  63. the quakeii directory on your hard drive.)

  65. Running the StrategyMaster
  66. After installing the Quake II StrategyMaster, click on the icon in the StrategyMaster program group to start 
  67. the program.

  69. Note:    The StrategyMaster products require that you have Apple Computer Inc.'s QuickTime 
  70. (32-bit version) installed. If you do not have QuickTime installed you will get a warning 
  71. message when you install and run the StrategyMaster. If you choose to run the 
  72. StrategyMaster without installing QuickTime you can still follow the level 
  73. walkthroughs, but will not see any of secret or strategy videos.

  75. You can find a runtime version of QuickTime on the StrategyMaster CD. Use Windows Explorer
  76. and double-click the "QT32.EXE" file to install it.

  78. Concept
  79. The StrategyMaster has been developed as an electronic strategy guide. Much like the book strategy 
  80. guides, this guide will lead you step-by-step through each level of Quake II. Along the way the guide will 
  81. show you where to find all the secrets for each level.
  82. The StrategyMaster will show you winning strategies for defeating the Strogg, as well as give you the 
  83. statistics on all the weapons and powerups in the game.
  84. The main difference between the book strategy guide and the StrategyMaster is that the StrategyMaster 
  85. uses full-motion video of actual game play to show you secrets and strategies. You can see exactly where 
  86. to go and what to do to reveal every secret, and surpass every obstacle thrown your way.
