  10. Welcome to the demo for Entomorph: Plague of the Darkfall!  Set in SSI's
  11. fantastic new World of Aden, you play the role of Squire Warrik, an
  12. unlikely hero in a world that is going through a horrible transformation.
  13. It is the time of The Darkfall, an era where powerful evil is sweeping
  14. across this once peaceful land.  As you travel on an island off the coast
  15. of Kyan, you notice that its inhabitants are changing, slowly and painfully,
  16. into horrible mutants; giant insects with a voracious appetite for death
  17. and destruction.  Can you find the root of this horrible plague on the
  18. land?  You must stop the advance of evil before it consumes you, as well!

  21. Instructions for Demo
  22.  
  23. Sound
  24. To install the sound driver, type sound and press return. Follow the
  25. instructions given.
  26.  
  27. Title Screen
  28. Combining sound with the opening cinematic requires a high performance
  29. machine. If the cinematic lost frames or played slowly, click on the sound
  30. box to turn off the music [does not effect the music during the game] and
  31. then watch it again!
  32.  
  33. Screen
  34. Your Hit Points are measured by the red bar along the left edge of the
  35. screen. Your Mana, needed to cast spells, is in green along the right edge.
  36. The playing field is in the center, with the backpack, spell book and menu
  37. option buttons along the bottom of the screen.  Just to the right of the
  38. spell book are three spell holding areas [see spells].

  40. Controls
  41. A mouse is required for the demo. Walk by holding down the right button
  42. while moving the mouse. Interact with the world by walking up to an object
  43. or person and clicking with the left button. It will make you talk, attack,
  44. open doors, or pick up an object [to name a few] as appropriate to the
  45. situation.
  46.  
  47. Combat
  48. Fight hand-to-hand with the left button. Move to dodge the monster's
  49. blows.
  50.  
  51. Spells
  52. After finding a spell, it is available in your spell book. Click on the
  53. spell book icon to open your book. You can ready a spell by dragging its
  54. icon from the spell book window into one of the three holding areas. The
  55. blue mana bar next to each spell is the power, or number of mana points,
  56. that you will expend with each casting. Close the spell book by again
  57. clicking on the book icon. Use a spell by pressing the "Z" "X" and "C" keys.

  59. Backpack
  60. Click on the backpack icon to view what items you are carrying. Most items
  61. are automatically used when they are required. Click on the backpack icon
  62. again to close the window.
  63.  
  64. Menu
  65. Click on the disk icon to open the menu. The only options active in this
  66. demo are Play and Quit.

  69. This is the beta version of Entomorph. We hope you enjoy it! The full
  70. product will be available in Fall, 1995. It will include:

  73.   [complete with ever-more powerful attacks!]
