-
- Q: I'm getting "Error: Local map version differs from server" when I try to connect.
- A: There are two possibilities: Either you or the server you tried to connect to is running
- an older version of JailBreak. The current latest version of JailBreak is 1.2. See next
- two questions for the filenames of the files you need to download.
-
- Q: I am planning to only play JailBreak. What do I need to download?
- A: You only need to download the pak file. The file is jailbrk2.zip.
-
- Q: I am planning to run a JailBreak server.
- A: You need to download the pak file (jilbrk2.zip) and the server dll. (jailsrv2b.zip)
-
- Q: Where are the maps? What are their filenames?
- A: The maps which come with JailBreak are jb1.bsp and jb2.bsp. They are both in the pak
- and you do NOT need to download them separately.
-
- Q: I downloaded a cool JailBreak map and I want to play it. Where do I put it?
- A: make a 'maps' directory in your c:\quake2\jail directory and put it in there.
- Note: as of now there are still no user maps maps released for jailbreak. Also, the server
- must be running the specific map you want to play.
-
- Q: How do I install JailBreak?
- A: Download the necessary files and unzip them into the c:\quake2 directory. Do NOT make
- a 'jail' 'jaibreak' or whatever directory into c:\quake2. Just unzip the zip file
- there, it will take care of the rest by itself. If you are using dos pkunzip,
- make sure you preserve the path with -d.
-
- Q: How do I run Jailbreak?
- A: To run the game from dos, go to your Quake2 directory and type:
- Quake2 +set game jail
- If you are connecting with Gamespy, make sure you get the gamespy tab, and
- everything else should be taken care of (no need for the aforementioned command
- line parameters). If you want to make a shortcut from windows, make sure +set game
- jail is set as a command line parameter. If you did this and installed correctly,
- you will notice that the console says "Jailbreak" instead of the normal Quake2
- backdrop.
-
- Q: When I tried to connect to a server, I got the 'could not load maps/<mapname>.bsp'
- What did I do wrong?
- A: You installed JailBreak wrong. See three previous questions.
