  3. This contains the various sample fonts used by GIF_TEXT.
  4. It also contains:
  5.   *  sample backgrounds (in the BACKS subdirectory)
  6.   * some sample buttons (in the BUTTONS subdirectory). 
  7.   * sample color slides (in the SLIDES subdirectory)
  8. all other directories contain either "alphabyte" or "complete" fonts.
  9.  
  10. Note that the two kinds of fonts used by GIF_TEXT  are:
  11.     alphabytes:  one .GIF file per character
  12.       complete:  one .GIF file for all characters, arranged in a table.

  28. *  A note on  EXT_GIF.CMD
  29.    To use complete fonts, there MUST be a suitably defined .IND file 
  30.    (i.e.; containing offset, character size, and character mapping 
  31.    information).  As an aid to debugging such an .IND file, the EXT_GIF.CMD 
  32.    program can be quite useful -- it will generate an alphabyte from 
  33.    a .IND file (and the "complete" .GIF file the .IND file points to).
