  12.   This document contains a summary of the new features that this new version
  13.   of ALLFIX will offer. In this version we have tried to solve all of the
  14.   open standing problems and also add as many new features as possible. The
  15.   following list quickly summarizes the features that we have added.
  16.  
  17.   * The request processor will now work with the BBBS mailer. BBBS
  18.     users front-slashes in the pathnames instead of back-slashes. By toggling
  19.     the "Flag mode" field, in the Request Processor menu, to "BBBS", you
  20.     can instruct ALLFIX to also use front-slashes in the response files.
  21.

  24.   * When adding a new file to the file database, ALLFIX has the ability to
  25.     place the fileecho tag at various parts of the file description. The only
  26.     option missing was the ability to put it at the end of the description, on
  27.     a seperate line.

  31.   * It is sometimes possible to make errors in the Pathnames menu, which
  32.     will result in unexpected behavior, such as having your inbound directory
  33.     moved to the Received Files directory, or even having a directory deleted.
  34.     ASETUP will now perform some rudamentary checks to help prevent
  35.     these types of mistakes, that many of us have made ;-).

  39.   * Support has been added for the Pegusus email client, enabling you to
  40.     send mail via the Internet if you use this email program. Simply select
  41.     "Pegusus Mail" as the "Message type" in the "Internet options" menu and
  42.     fill in the directory where the mail files are stored in the "In queue"
  43.     field.
  44.

  47.   * Support has been added for the Outlook Express email client. In the
  48.     "Internet Settings" menu, select "Outlook Express" as the "Message type".
  49.     Then, enter the path and filename of the files, that inbound and outbound
  50.     messages are stored in, in the "In queue" and "Out queue" fields,
  51.     respectively. It is important that you LEAVE OUT the extension of these
  52.     files!

  56.   * The External Hatch program had the ability to only copy a file while
  57.     hatching, as apposed to moving it. This feature was only available in the
  58.     full screen mode. This "Copy" option has also been made available to be
  59.     used with the command line mode, and also in the Hatch manager in
  60.     ASETUP.

  64.   * A couple of new template macros have been added, to help you spruce
  65.     up your templates. The macros are:

  67.        @uppercase(), @lowercase(), and @capitalize()

  75.     Two new macros have been added to the Request Processor template
  76.     files. The macros are:

  82.   * ALLFIX can use the TZ environment variable to determine the time
  83.     zone that you are in. This is used when writing email messages to ensure
  84.     that the time stamp in those messages is correct.

  88.   * ALLFIX can now use the FrontDoor STQ! Simply select "FrontDoor
  89.     STQ" as the mailer in the "Global options" menu. And, you need to enter
  90.     the directory to the FrontDoor system files in the "Outbound" field in the
  91.     "Pathnames (1)" menu.

  95.   * Support for the Telegard BBS system has been updated so that you can
  96.     also use ALLFIX with the new Telegard 3.10 release. Simply run FCOMP
  97.     32 .

  101.   * The AreaMgr in ALLFIX has a RESEND command that can be used by
  102.     a downlink to request ALLFIX to resend a file. The problem with this
  103.     command is that it does not require the downlink to specify the fileecho.
  104.     This leads to problems when the file is stored in more than one fileecho or
  105.     when more than one fileecho is stored in the same physical directory. This
  106.     problem has been solved by enhancing this command to require that a
  107.     fileecho is also specified. At the same time, this command has been made
  108.     more powerful by allowing wildcards to be specified! The new format is:
  109.  
  110.        %RESEND [fileecho]:[filename]
  111.  
  112.     Where [filename] may contain wildcards.
  113.

  116.   * Support has been added for Tornado BBS, a FILES.BBS style BBS
  117.     system used quite a bit in the Ex-USSR countries. To use this support,
  118.     simply run FCOMP 31 .

  122.   * The "Route-via" option was never finished due to some technical
  123.     problems. The idea for the "unfinished" version was that the .TIC files
  124.     would be marked for a particular destination system and that the user
  125.     would have to configure the mailer to make sure that the files were routed
  126.     to the proper node.
  127.  
  128.   * This has been changed. ALLFIX will now send the files via the node, as
  129.     specified in the Node manager. It will use the TIC Pack settings for the
  130.     destination node and also route files via the internet or move them to the
  131.     holding directory if necessary. If the files are routed via more than one
  132.     node, then it is important that everyone on the route uses ALLFIX,
  133.     otherwise, the .TIC files will simply be processed by the first
  134.     non-ALLFIX node on the route. Other ALLFIX systems will recognize
  135.     that the files are not for him, and simply ignore them, and let them pass
  136.     on to the next system.
  137.  
  138.   * Support has been added for BBBS. Simply run FCOMP 30 . In order
  139.     to make sure that the descriptions are correctly added to the descript.ion
  140.     files, you also need to turn the "One line LongDesc" option in the
  141.     "LongDesc options" menu On. Also, be sure to turn the "Use FDB" option
  142.     on for every fileecho.

  146.   * The Pathnames (1) field contained three fields, namely, Outbound, DB
  147.     Queue, and FileBox, which are used to define the outbound directories for
  148.     three different mailers. Since these mailers can not be used
  149.     simultaneously, only one field is required. Therefore, the later two have
  150.     been removed. ASETUP will automatically update the remaining field
  151.     "Outbound" if you use D'Bridge or T-Mail.
