  5. Unix and BeOS versions now require registration to transfer files 
  6. larger than 1MB. XFree86/OS2 version is now included into OS/2 distribution
  7. together with VIO and PM versions.

  9. New in this version:

  11. Several major additions:
  12.  - Direct FTP Search interface allows to find and download files quickly;
  13.    includes advanced filtering capabilities, can sort results by host,
  14.    domain, size, name, date/time.
  15.  - Mouse support (not quite complete yet); works in OS/2 VIO, PM,
  16.    Windows 95/98/NT, Unix xterm/rxvt/etc. Can be switched off.
  17.  - Experimental (read: alpha-quality) OS/2 NFTP/PM version.

  19. plus a lot of less important enhancements and bugfixes:
  20.  - language is no longer controlled by NFTP_LANG variable; it is set from
  21.    the inside of NFTP and is kept in the configuration file (nftp.cfg);
  22.    language setting is now per-platform basis (so you can have Japanese
  23.    in OS/2 VIO version, Korean in XFree86/OS2 xterm and English in NFTP/PM
  24.    with one installation);
  25.  - editing files on the server (non-anonymous only); use "External viewer"
  26.    menu option;
  27.  - changed screen layout and provided options in nftp.ini for tweaking it:
  28.    enabling/disabling menu, upper and lower status lines;
  29.  - you can now interrupt communications with server with Esc (NFTP will ask
  30.    whether you really want to break connection); useful for slow sites;
  31.  - subtree sizes are shown when available for remote directories; menu option
  32.    to calculate subtree size;
  33.  - progress indicator reports stalls (no data received during extended period
  34.    of time) and time since last network activity is shown;
  35.  - you can hit 'R' during transfer to initiate abort/reconnect/reget sequence;
  36.  - NFTP is able to save/restore window size and position on some platforms
  37.    (OS/2 VIO and PM);
  38.  - NFTP VIO window can be resized on-the-fly with Alt-Left/Right/Up/Down;
  39.  - NFTP/Windows will wait for external program to finish (e.g., when editing
  40.    nftp.ini file);
  41.  - window title has been reorganized, so under Windows taskbar shows transfer
  42.    percentage (it was cut off in previous format);
  43.  - search in the history window (Ctrl-F: forward, Ctrl-G: next,
  44.    Ctrl-H: backwards);
  45.  - Windows version now uses different compiler, Mingw32 egcs port
  46.    (http://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/~janjaap/mingw32/);
  47.  - PORT mode now works under BeOS;
  48.  - registration info is now entered via "Options/Registration code" menu entry
  49.    instead of editing nftp.ini;
  50.  - Alt-keys work on Linux console (useful for menu);
  51.  - some menu reorganization;
  52.  - optimizations for Unix screen output routines and option to specify
  53.    'slow link'; in that mode, NFTP will skip some not very useful screen
  54.    output;
  55.  - clipserv.exe is no longer needed under OS/2;
  56.  - Solaris Intel port (actually appeared in 1.41);
  57.  - Digital Unix 4.0 (DEC Alpha) port (actually appeared in 1.41);

  62. OS/2 users: update your EMX runtime to version 0.9d. NFTP version 1.50 should
  63. also run with emx0.9c fix 4, but it is recommended to upgrade.
