- It is recommended that you make a backup copy of your
- Rex directory before upgrading, in case there are
- problems.
-
- If you are updating from version 0.95 you must
- reinstall. 0.95 is no longer supported.
-
- If you are updating from version 0.99 or less, you
- should run rex -send to send any waiting mail, then
- delete the contents of your queue directory. The
- queue structure of versions 0.99 and up is incompatible
- with previous versions.
-
- Important! - For users of Internet Rex 1.16!
- Before upgrading, check your email addresses. (Email
- setup -> Configure email addresses.) If the data there
- is corrupt, or if the config program crashes when you try
- to do this, follow these steps *before* upgrading to 1.17.
- - Move nodes.rex to a different directory.
- - Run rexcfg. (It will ask to attempt to repair nodes.rex.
- Choose yes.)
- - At the main menu, hit escape. (The "Save changes" query
- will come up.)
- - Hit escape. (Back to the main menu.)
- - Hit escape again. (Back to the "Save changes" menu.)
- - Now choose Yes to save changes.
- - Move nodes.rex back to the Rex directory.
- - Run rexcfg again. (It will ask to attempt to repair
- nodes.rex. Choose yes.)
- - Quit again. Do *not* hit escape at the "Save changes"
- query: choose Yes to save changes.
- You can now upgrade to Rex 1.17.
-
- To update your copy of Internet Rex to version 1.17,
- unzip the contents of the distribution archive into
- your Rex directory. Win95, WinNT and OS/2 users
- should then open a DOS window, and change to the Rex
- directory. Then run update.com. Follow any directions
- it gives after the update. Linux users should run
- ./update and follow any directions given.
