  1. FILE FREEDOM 2.01 September 1998 DISTRIBUTION
  2.          File Freedom is distributed electronically for the first time as
  3.          Freeware.  This is the latest code and there have been no limitations
  4.          inserted or features removed.

  13. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
  14.          File Freedom is a very fast, powerful, PM file manager with
  15.          an uncluttered, easy-to-use interface.  It is designed to be a
  16.          quick and efficient utility that excels in file management
  17.          and is also easy to use.  Yet, it does not skimp on features.
  18.          In fact, you will find in File Freedom advanced features not
  19.          found in other file managers.  It also provides two
  20.          harmonious, yet distinct methods of file management:
  21.          Drag and Drop for those who prefer it, and its native method
  22.          which is quite fast and easy.

  24.          In addition to the basic file operations such as copy, move,
  25.          rename, delete and changing attributes, File Freedom also
  26.          supports advanced features such as the capability to look
  27.          inside a zip file WITHIN a zip file, and configurable timers
  28.          to automatically refresh the drive table and file folders if
  29.          you are using File Freedom on a network.  Other recent
  30.          features include a system of Directory Bookmarks that allow
  31.          quick access to frequently used directories, an Auto-Scroll
  32.          implementation that speeds selecting or unmarking of files
  33.          with the mouse, and an Append operation that allows text files
  34.          to be joined together.

  74. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  75.          First, from an OS/2 command line, unzip the File Freedom package
  76.          into the desired subdirectory.  Then, change to this directory and
  77.          also from the command line, run File Freedom.  It will create a
  78.          desktop object of itself (look for two rough looking red "F"s) and an
  79.          INI file in this same directory.
  80.          No changes are made to the CONFIG.SYS file.
  81.          Once the program is started press F1 for online Help. A Help
  82.          screen is displayed and an overview of File Freedom (General Features)
  83.          is the first section in Help.  This also contains information on how
  84.          to customize the look and functionality of File Freedom.
  85.          Links to all areas of Help can be accessed following this section or
  86.          from the Help Menu.
  87.          Context-Sensitive Help is also displayed during any task by
  88.          pressing F1.

  90. GETTING INFO-ZIP's ZIP 2.1 and UNZIP 5.2
  91.          File Freedom will only support versions of Info-Zip's
  92.          compression /decompression set later than Zip 2.1 and
  93.          Unzip 5.2.  These can be found at various ftp sites
  94.          (zip21x2.zip and unz520x2.exe) but the latest versions are
  95.          always available at: ftp.uu.net/pub/archiving/zip

  97. VIEWERS
  98.          By default, File Freedom is set to use the OS/2 multimedia
  99.          viewers for examining multimedia files.  Some may prefer
  100.          other, more capable, viewers however.  A very capable and
  101.          fast freeware graphic viewer is GBMV written by Andy Key.
  102.          It is available on Hobbes (hobbes.nmsu.edu) as
  103.          "os2/graphics/gbm.zip". Many other freeware and shareware
  104.          file viewers can also be found there.
