- ~~~~~~~~~~
- This software is distributed as is. There are no warranties, either
- expressed or implied. Therefore I, and Chris Russo am NOT responsible for
- any damages caused by In the Building, Triumph Software, or any software by
- me. Use this program at your OWN risk.
-
-
- Shareware
- ~~~~~~~~~
- ITB is SHAREWARE, which means you are allowed to use it for a reasonable
- amount of time then you must consider registering ITB. I'm not going to get
- into all the other crap because I know you all are sick of it. All I'm going
- to say is that ITB is only $10.00 and has no expiration. To register ITB,
- fill out registration file which is ITB.REG . Then mail it in.
-
- In the SHAREWARE version of ITB, the Damage Building option has been
- disable becuase I know lots of people love to damage buildings and properties.
- There is also a screen reminder screen but no delay and will be removed when
- door is registered. I'm pretty sneaky...:).
-

- Upgrading
- ~~~~~~~~~
- If you are running a previous version of ITB (v.1.0 to 1.5), just unzip
- ALL the files in this archive to your previous ITB directory, overwriting
- all the old files. Since the file handling is the same in all version(so far)
- of ITB, upgrading won't effect any game records or score so there is no need
- to reset the game. YOU DO NEED TO RECONFIGURE! IF YOU HAVE A REGISTERED
- VERSION OF ITB, THEN YOU MUST RESET. But you can save the player files. Just
- look for the files named 1,2,3 and such. Save them, reset, then put them back
- and you're set!
-
- In the Building
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- ITB is a BBS door game in which players or "residents" move into a very
- poor and cheap building and start living there. During their time, they will
- be attack by other players and will eventually fight back so the point of the
- game is to attack each other in the building. This can be very fun and
- amusing.
-
- Installing ITB
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- ITB is fairly easy to install. First you need to reset the game.
- Run CONFIG.EXE and push 1 to reset the game and create the needed files.
- Then push 2 to create the ITB.CFG.
-
- First Line: You will have to specify the amount of moves a player can do.
- A move is when a player does something like beat up a wimp, or hit Arnold or
- any other thing except for attack a player. I suggest 20 becuase too much
- moves will get the score too high.
-
- Second Line: You will now have to specify the amount of attacks a player
- can do. An attack is when a player attacks another player. Everytime a player
- hits another player, they have done an attack. I suggest 10 attacks per game
- so users won't lose or gain to much points at one time.
-
- Third Line: In ITB, I have allow a player to page the SysOp during the game
- for questions, chat, etc. You can allow them to by entering TRUE or disable
- it by entering FALSE.
-
- Fourth Line: I have no idea why I put this in becuase it doesn't really
- matter at all. But I put it in anyway just in case some SysOp out there would
- not want to known living in Washington area when they're living way down
- south like Florida. Just enter the area you live in here.
-
- Fith Line: In this version of ITB, a support path has been added so sysops
- don't have copy files to the ITB directory. Just enter the path to the drop
- door file will be found - JUST THE PATH example : C:\TRIBBS\ <-- MUST HAVE A
- BACKSLASH \. Example : C:\WC30\Node1\.
-
- This new version of ITB has been written using Tridoor by Chris M. Russo.
- Therefore, drop file handling has been changed. No command line or parameter
- needed becuase of the support path in the config file.
- The following files are supported so far :
-
- DOOR.SYS
- DORINFO1.DEF
- CHAIN.TXT
- PCBOARD.SYS
-
- ITB will look in the current directory in the support path for any of
- these files and if one of then is found, then it will be used for the drop
- file.
-
- a sample batch file would be:
-
-
- cd c:\ITB <--change to ITB dir
- ITB <--runs ITB
- cd c:\tribbs <--change back to tribbs dir
- board <--starts the board up again
-
- Then you're all set!!
-
- SysOp's Function Keys
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- The SysOp keys have also been modified to comply with PCBoard
- conventions.
-
- ALT-F1 - Add one minute to player's time
- ALT-F2 - Take one minute from player's time
- ALT-F3 - Disable user's keyboard
- ALT-F4 - Artifical line noise ( kicks off BBS )
- F1 - Help screen 1
- F2 - Help screen 2
- F3 - Normal Status Bar
- F5 - Dos shell
- F8 - Aborts player (return to BBS)
- F9 - Disable screen (press again to show screen)
- F10 - SysOp chat key
-
-
- Author's Note
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- If you're one of those crazed people who like to tamper with the files
- and junk then let me tell you not to mess too much with the player files.
- If you want to edit players then just run CONFIG.EXE and push 3. DO NOT mess
- with the Needed files, PLAYER.TXT, USERS.TXT, NUMBER.TXT, and ACESS.TXT.
- They are needed to control file handling. Since I don't know some much about
- binary files, I used text files.
-
- Bugs
- ~~~~
- Since ITB is still in it's beta stage, there may be a lot bugs I haven't
- discovered yet. Please inform me of all the bugs you find. ITB should now be
- able to detect drop carriers and user time outs. There shouldn't be a reason
- for the BBS to hang now but if a case does happen, please let me so I can
- what I can do. Thank you.
