  20.    CapiTel is a 32-Bit Answering Machine for OS/2, Windows 95 and Windows NT.

  46.   Installation under OS/2:
  47.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  48.    Before you are able to use CapiTel, you have to install the OS/2
  49.    Multimedia Package MMPM/2 and a CAPI 1.1 compliant driver for
  50.    your ISDN card.
  51.  
  52.    The installation itself is easy. Just unzip the complete distribution
  53.    archive into the desired destination directory and run INSTALL.CMD.
  54.    This REXX script will create a CapiTel object on your Desktop.
  55.  
  56.    If you are going to create CapiTel objects on your own, do not
  57.    forget to set the "Working Directory" !
  58.  
  59.    CAPI 1.1 is unable to handle more than one applications that listen on
  60.    the same EAZ. Therefore: If you use CapiTel, make sure it listens to
  61.    the configured EAZ alone.

  64.   Installation under Win 95/NT:
  65.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  66.    Unzip the distribution archive into a temporary directory and
  67.    start SETUP.EXE, this will install CapiTel on your machine and you
  68.    will find it in the Start-Menu.

  71.   Configuration:

  73.    Use the Properties-Notebook to configure CapiTel.

  76.    General: - Play Ringing-WAV
  77.               If this item is selected, the Ringing-WAV is played on
  78.               your machine if an incoming call is detected.
  79.  
  80.             - Generate 16-Bit .WAV Files
  81.               Mark the checkbox if your soundcard supports this.

  83.             - Restore Window on new Calls
  84.               If an incoming call is detected, the CapiTel window pops
  85.               to the front. Under OS/2, it doesn't steal the focus!

  87.             - Confirm on Call-Deletion
  88.               Mark the checkbox if you want to be asked before
  89.               CapiTel deletes a call.

  91.             - Ignore empty Calls
  92.               If you mark this checkbox, all calls with a recording
  93.               time of 0 seconds won't be recognized by CapiTel

  95.             - Expand Area-Code
  96.               If a Caller-ID is detected that can't be found in the
  97.               Callers-Database, the name of the caller's city is shown.

  99.             - DTMF Support
  100.               You can completely disable the DTMF Support (Remote Control)
  101.               with this item.

  103.             - Answer Delay
  104.               Specify the default delay (in seconds) before CapiTel
  105.               answers a call.

  108.               Specify the default maximum recording time (in seconds).
  109.               CapiTel automatically hangs up if a caller speaks and
  110.               exceeds this limit!

  112.             - Silence Detection
  113.               Specify the Silence Detection (in seconds).
  114.               CapiTel automaticalls hangs up if a caller stops speaking
  115.               and exceeds this limit!

  117.             - Welcome-WAV
  118.               The default file that is played when CapiTel answers a call.

  120.             - Ringing-WAV
  121.               The default file that is played on your machine when an
  122.               incoming call is detected.

  124.             - Logfile
  125.               CapiTel can log all calls into a log-file. You may also
  126.               specify a Named Pipe or a Device (ie. your printer), if
  127.               your operating system supports this.

  130.    Ports:   To edit, double-click on an entry or use the PopUp-Menu.
  131.             If there is no port listed, CapiTel reacts on ALL available ports!
  132.  
  133.             Port: A short description for the port.
  134.  
  135.             EAZ/MSN: The EAZ or the MSN for this port. If you are using
  136.                      a CAPI 1.1 driver, fill in an EAZ between 0 and 9
  137.                      here. If you are using CAPI 2.0, supply a complete
  138.                      MSN.

  140.             Welcome WAV/ALW: The WAV or ALW file that is played to the caller.
  141.                              Use * for the default.
  142.  
  143.             Ringing WAV: The WAV that is played on your machine when
  144.                          an incoming call is detected.
  145.                          Use * for the default.

  147.             Reaction: CapiTel is able to reject a call. Here you define how it
  148.                       should behave: 'Normal' for normal behaviour, 'Busy' to
  149.                       simulate a busy line, 'Refuse' to refuse the call, and
  150.                       'Unavailable' to simulate an unavailable service.
  151.                       Important: The reaction you define here is only valid
  152.                       for the ISDN card. If another device (ie. an ISDN
  153.                       telephone) is also listening on the EAZ/MSN, the caller
  154.                       won't get CapiTel's reaction!  There is nothing we can
  155.                       do about this. That's the way ISDN works.

  157.             Answer Delay: The answer delay (in seconds) for the port.
  158.                           Use * for the default.

  160.             Max. Recording Time: The maximum recording time (in seconds)
  161.                                  for the port.

  165.    Callers: To edit, double-click on an entry or use the PopUp-Menu.
  166.             If someone calls you and the incoming number matches one in this
  167.             container, the caller specific settings are used.

  169.             Name: The caller's name.

  171.             Number: The caller's number which is used when identifying
  172.                     incoming calls. You may use the * wildcard at the end of
  173.                     a number (and only there).. ie. 024192090* matches ALL
  174.                     numbers that start with 024192090.

  179.    Remote Actions:
  180.             To edit, double-click on an entry or use the PopUp-Menu.

  182.             DTMF Code: If this DTMF Code is detected, the appropiate
  183.                        Action is started.

  185.             Action: The following actions are available:

  187.                     - Remote Control plays all calls that have been
  188.                       recorded. Use the *-Button on your phone to delete
  189.                       them.
  190.                     - Reboot
  191.                     - Deactivate CapiTel
  192.                     - Quit CapiTel
  193.                     - Execute starts a program on your machine.  You have
  194.                       to fill in the Program, Arguments and Title fields!

  196.             Window Title: This is the window's title of an EXECUTE-Action.

  199.    Use "Save" to save the new settings, or "Cancel" to discard them.

  201.    A note about the Port/Caller specific settings:
  202.    If you specify something for a caller, it takes precedence over the
  203.    settings you might have defined for a Port.

  208.    The most important part of the CapiTel main window is the container. There
  209.    you will see all incoming calls. The fields are self explanatory.
  210.    Under OS/2, you may throw colours and fonts into the main window, they
  211.    will be remembered.
  212.  
  213.    If you are using CapiTel with hidden controls, you can access the various
  214.    menu functions with the popup menu you get when you click with your
  215.    right mouse button on the container. Under OS/2, the window can be moved
  216.    by dragging the sizing border with the right mouse button pressed.

  218.    Use the "Record" option to record a new welcome message by calling
  219.    yourself. A dialog will pop up asking you for a filename. WELCOME.ALW is
  220.    the default. You can use the created ALW files in the Port and
  221.    Callers tabs of the Properties-Notebook.

  223.    Of course you can create a .WAV file yourself and use it directly!

  225.    If someone calls you and wants to stop the Welcome-WAV, he just
  226.    pushes the #-Button on his phone.

  231.   Hints for Experts:

  233.    Almost everything in CapiTel can be configured time-dependent. It can't
  234.    be found in the Properties-Notebook, because we didn't want to confuse
  235.    newbies. Edit CAPITEL.PRT, CAPITEL.NAM or CAPITEL.ACT and modify the
  236.    entries as follows:
  237.  
  238.      entry=<default_value>[~<chunk_1>][~<chunk_2>]...[~<chunk_n>]
  239.  
  240.      chunk_x=<fromday>-<today>,<fromtime-totime>,<value_for_this_chunk>
  241.  
  242.    fromday/today can be one of: Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa, Su
  243.    Lower Day-Value must be first in the Day-Ranges. ie. Fr-Mo is not allowed!

  245.    fromtime/totime must be xx:yy (xx=hours, yy=minutes) in 24 Hour format.

  247.    CapiTel parses the chunks from left to right and stops after the first hit.
  248.    Time-dependent entries must not exceed 512 characters.
  249.    The default value is used if there is no hit.

  256.    The OS/2 evaluation version expires after 60 days. After this period,
  257.    it _stops_ working and you have to register it if you want to
  258.    further use it.

  260.    The Win 95/NT version does not expire, but it has a 10 second delay
  261.    upon Startup. Also reminding windows pop up after the fifth call,
  262.    and CapiTel automatically deactivates itself after the 12th call.

  264.    Different BEEP-Tones are used by the registered version and the
  265.    evaluation copy. This way we can determine whether someone is using
  266.    an illegal copy or not.
